Hell, I gave it a much, much bigger chance then I'd have given a non-Legion title (I'm a mug. Sue me).
But I've come to the conclusion that the current LSH title is irredemible pigswill. Anyone agree?

Nope... but I've been a die-hard fan since '74....
I want to see where the Supergirl story is heading...
Mark Waid's a good writer.. I'll see it through for a bit longer.

Completely disagree. I like the premise, and I'm looking forward to seeing what other storylines are on the way.

I'm onboard for the long haul. The only time I ever quit buying the Legion was when I started getting incredibly tired of Joe Staton's artwork. Barry's art is stellar and I know what Waid is capable of so I'll stick it out and see where it goes.

A whole lot of faint praise...I felt similarly until I read all of the current run in two or three sittings. They hang together much better than they do seperately.
I do, however, think that Waid might do well to give us some more background, history, and character development so that we all feel more comfortable in this new 31st Century. I feel like one of the problems a lot of people have is the fact that they've been thrown in without much idea what's going on. Thank the gods we haven't been subjected to another origin story to begin the series, but it may be time to do more than hint at what has gone before.
The only consistent feature of all of your dissatisfying relationships is you.

"irredemible pigswill"? No. But I also did drop it.
I noticed besides Barry's art and a few character interactions it does nothing for me.
I just think they missed the boat big time. They looked at the foundation of the Legion too much. Waid used the FF as an example. The early Legion does not compare to the Lee/Kirby FF at all. The Legion evolved throughout the years and this anachronistic thing is throwing it back to far where it makes little sense to most...or atleast little interest.
Look at what made the team popular decade by decade. Try to figure out what's next? Or incorporate all the elements.

I don't think it's irredeemable but I do think Barry's art is carrying this title. I think Waid needs to drop the youth vs. adults theme and just concentrate on developing good characters and good stories.
The last 13 issue story arc didn't measure up at all, considering it was supposed to launch a whole new title and a whole new direction. The fact that we're seeing long time fans drop the book is a pretty bad sign.
Also, if it ain't broke, don't fix it. I think the new origins for Phantom Girl, Triplicate Girl, and Colossal Boy are totally lame. Their original origins (is that redundant?) were perfectly fine and didn't need changing. I can see the point of having Colossal Boy be a giant who can shrink, but that pretty much precludes him coming from Earth, IMO. At least a couple of giant planets have been introduced in the DCU. Why not just have him come from one of them?

Though I can't call it pigswill, and I don't believe it to be irredeemable, I have grown vaguely dissastified with the current LSH, hence my currect re-reading of the (thus far) vastly superior reboot era.

I like the book. It was cool to see the first few issues set the team up, giving us some idea of the characters. Sure, it was slow; I would have liked some more action in the book. But I would not decry this as anything other than slow in the pacing.
I've read a few archives, and this series is sort of like those old issues. Done in one stories, use of a few characters rather than the whole crew, some fun stories, some mini adventures.
It's not the LSH I met back when DnA wrote it, nor is it the team from those older versions. But give Mark and Barry time and comments, not insults. Tell them, more spotlight issues, more action, more adventure and less politics.
Just spouting off.

I've got mixed emotions.
I'm glad Colossal Boy and Projectra are back. But Jim's right; C.B.'s origin doesn't cut it for me. And the "giant who shrinks" jokes are getting old.
I like the new Chameleon, especially the special touches (mint breath) he adds to his disguises.
But I really, really don't like the new Brainy. He's far too arrogant. I grant that he's the smartest kid in class. But lest he forget: there's always someone smarter around the corner.
And while I like the concept of Terror Firma, I'm totally lost about who these kids are and what their powers are.
And then there's Supergirl.
Frankly, I've never warmed to the Superman family. And I worry that Kara will steal screen time away from characters who I think deserve it more, such as Lyle and Tasmia.
That said, I'm here for five more issues. I'm willing to be proven wrong.

some parts of Threeboot are good; I like Lu's current origin, for instance. I don't see enough to justify the continuity overhaul, tho.
Yes, the whole run reads better in a single sitting, but it's still less-than-satisfying.
I'm also giving it through the Supergirl stories to jump-start my enthusiasm.
The childhood friend Exnihil never had.

Not my top book (not while Walking Dead and Jonah Hex are kicking ass) but I'm still hanging in. Recently I've started rereading my CrossGen collection and am now on Ruse. I would love to see some of that wit and sense of story Waid used there in this Legion.

I (long time reader) stopped after #12 - although a friend said I might like #15. I think Mr. Waid should take a deep breath and bring the book down to some basic action storylines to try to get some momentum going. The 30-page format has not been utilized very well, with too much filler pages, filler stories and letter columns. How about an issue with two solid 15 page stories of a handful of Legionnaires in each, not saving the universe, just a little piece of the 31st century to start?
The introduction of Supergirl could be a well-needed catalyst for this title, so hope endures.
PS- I get the same feeling in the writing on this book as I did with the end of the DnA run. At the start, DnA was Go Legion, but towards the end they seemed to just lose interest (Mr. Majestic?). Is Mr.Waid spread too thin and distracted with his "52" efforts? This Legion version has read that way.

This 'boot is the reason I started reading the Legion regularly (instead of just as tie-ins) so... yeah. Obviously I'm somewhat partial.
That said, I did read the Reboot (mostly-- still have Legion Lost and The Legion to go) and have enjoyed many aspects that I feel have yet to surface in the current incarnation.
But, in all honestly, I really like most of Waid's characterizations more. The only ones I defintely, 100% do not are probably Lyle and Lu.

I am giving it one more issue. If the firts Supergirl issue doesn't really wow me I am going to drop it. I just wish they would branch out a little away from the Silver Age angle. I know Waid is a die hard Silver Age guy, but man I really would love to have seen some characters from after the Silver Age brought in to the mix. I know people will say hold on and wait and see, but I really don't think I can muster the interest in the meantime.

Part of the issue seems to be that we're all expecting too much I think in the first 12 issues. They managed to stuff alot in those issues.
It's vastly superior (my choice of words) to the nonsensical Reboot that made everyone 14 year olds.
However, I do think we need to get back to character 'growth'

A lot of it depends of your perspective of this new Legion. If you view it as just another collection of replacement doppelgangers, it's easier to dismiss them. If you view it as the (original) Earth-1 Legion whose reality was transmuted by the shockwaves of Infinite Crisis, there's much more reason to be vested in the characters and their stories. In this light, they're no less "authentic" than the TMK/SW6 Legions and, in my opinion, much more so even at this early stage.
Until their origins are revealed, I'll continue looking at it that way. And even if it turns out much different than I imagine (they're displaced from lost Earth-188 or something), I think the creators will have have greater freedom to surge forward now that IC is drawing to a close, which makes me more excited about the second year than I was for the first.

And if you weren't BORN until after the Crisis and thus after Earth-1 was gone? I have no reason whatsoever to be "vested" in this, or care about "authenticity" (which is bullshit anyway - you cannot argue that black Starboy is the same as beardboy. They're as alternate as any other version) - I care about quality, not some "if you squint this way" fucked-up "authenticity." All that is is an excuse to punt Gates to "Earth-8" rather than taking the time to tell good stories. Plus, isn't the postboot team meant to be the result of the true, "clean" timeline, with all the Time Trapper's cruft stripped away? I'm here for the long haul, but I am disappointed in the book so far. I do not want to see any members of the "Superman family" anywhere near this title. They far to quickly become the center of attention and the solver of all problems. So far it just doesn't feel like the Legion yet. Maybe something will click with me and make it work, but so far, not yet. Long way from being DC's best selling book aren't we?

They seemed to have abandoned that idea pretty quickly, unless someone can explain exactly how the lack of interference by the Time Trapper resulted in an entire planet being turned into racoon-enslaving snake people. The worst I can say about the current Legion is that so far it hasn't lived up to expectations. There's nothing in it thus far that is anywhere near as horrid as much of the garbage we got in the previous incarnation, under both DnA and their predecessors.

To me, other than the names, Threeboot has less connection to 1958-1994 LSH than Reboot did. I can't characterize anything DnA did as "horrid," and most of it stands up better than WaK so far.
