Well... I found out at work today about a transfer that's been in the works for a while now. It looks like I'll be moving to Phoenix in a few weeks. At least for a year and then its up to me if I stay or not. It comes with a nice increase in salary, especially if I stay. Unfortunately, I'm leaving everyone I know and love behind. There will probably also be some downtown as I get situated in and I may not have access to a computer at home for a while. I may fly over in the next few weekends to look for an apartment but they offered to set me up in a hotel once I get there so I can look. But it seems that it would just be easier to move all at once. Anyone ever done anything like this? Any advice? This really sucks as I've just come alive on this forum and made what promises to be some lasting friends. I guess I'll get back eventually, but this has become a daily retreat for me... plus I'll be missing out on SO MUCH FLIRTING!!! I'm so sad -and excited -and happy -and scared -and...

Phoenix..!?! Oh baby, and you thought TEXAS was hot...
Nope. I can't advise it. Texas isn't so bad a drive from here. Arizona IS.
Plus I can't deal with you not being around here for that extended length of time. No way! I forbid it Caleb!!!! Listen to me, I'm only looking out for what's best for me!

Lash, don't make this any harder for me than it is. Don't think that I haven't considered getting in the car and driving to Tennessee to see you -even though we've only been flirting for a short while.
On the plus side, with the extra money I'll be making, that makes a plane trip to Tennessee more likely. But by then, some gorgeous boy in Memphis will have come to his senses and grabbed Lash all up for himself.
-sob- why can't I transfer to Memphis?!?!?

Well I'm partial to Phoenix but only because I was born there. But it is ungodful hot right now. Upwards of 120 some days in July. If you are driving I'd say go in advance and get set up first.
I've not had to do anything like it yet (knock on wood) so I can't help with that. But you have our good thoughts in your trip. Just try to find a cyber-cafe or some such in keep in touch!

I've always gone for older guys but that's pushing it.
Lash, expect a guest. Once I turn down the job, I'll be looking for a new one. Where better to look than Memphis?

Damn it, Caleb! And you're getting a starring role in our next LMB tag team story, which details the founding of Lash's Legion of Super-Bitches!
We'll be starting that just as soon as we finish the Super-Jailhouse of Space! Oh wait... you'll probably be all settled in and back online by then...

Dear Diary: Just found out that LW Cutie in residence, Caleb, goes for older guys! Can you believe it? Who would have thought that such a hottie might even look this way! Wonder how he feels about 40 sumpin'? Maybe that still too old...or maybe even that's too young! Oh the tragedy if that were the case.

Moving to a strange place can be a little scary, Caleb, but it can also be a good thing sometimes. You never know... it could be the best choice you've ever made. And don't worry about us here... you will NOT be forgotten, and will be back with us again before you know it. Besides, they MUST have internet cafes in Arizona, so until you get yourself set up at home, I'm sure you'll find a place where you can at least check in and get caught up on the gossip
Some people are like slinkys: not really good for anything, but they bring a smile to your face when you knock them down a flight of stairs

I couldn't agree more with everything that Cru and others have said. While a bit intimidating, a move to a totally new location can be a great experience. I made a similar move from the Northeast to Florida about 15 years ago (God! Has it been that long already?) Didn't know a soul when I got here but it wasn't long before I had a great group of friends. The internet cafe suggestion is wonderful for two reasons. First, you can stay in touch with us (We'd miss you terribly!) and, second, it's probably a great place to meet some new friends in town. Of course, if Phoenix doesn't work out, you could always move to Florida. We have lots of hotties in shorts YEAR ROUND here! (It's the law here, didn't you know that?)

Caleb, just do it! If nothing else think of your autobiography honey, it'll read like a latter day stephen King novel if you stay where you are.... And your friends will love you where-ever you are, trust me, you'll be surprised by how many will want to check out your new place on weekend visits and suchlike and in no time you'll be surrounded by a new crowd with your old crowd just a call away. but if it all goes horribly wrong blame Varalent, I'm just following his ideas as he seems so clever.....

Awwww... thanks everyone. Lash, I'm a Meeting Coordination Director. I don't know optics from apples. Varalent, My last b/f was 43 (and somehow still unable to live a monogomous life). I've only dated one guy that was younger than me. I have to go through with it. I can't turn down an opportunity like this, especially in todays job market. I've already informed all my friends that they have to throw me a FABULOUSLY HUGE going away party... then come to Phoenix and give me an equally huge apartment-warming party. Luckily, I have the option to stay or not. I'm sure Phoenix isn't that bad and maybe 120 degrees won't really be that bad compared to 100 degrees and high humidity of Dallas. Plus, I'm sure I won't be cut off from Legion World for too long. I'm getting excited again.

Well, if during the party they leave open an Internet connection, you can make an ID for your friends there to share during the party. The mods can start a thread here, and all join in. Oh, and "optics," round flatish things used for eye glasses. "Apples" spheroidal red things often eaten or used to bribe teachers. Disaster can result when the two are confused. Good Luck.

HEy hey hey, allow me to chime in....don't worry about those over 60 years old...in fact I have met some HOT-looking 60 years old guys..at the gar bars....*eye rubbing* wow...I mean they don't look like that they are over 60...i mean they look like they are about 45ish...but...no, I assumed too much. Anyway, I went to Phoenix for the Softball Tournament in April a few times...four times. It turned out not bad...so relax! I know a porn star who lives there. (actually in Scottsdale).
