Actually I suspect Space Ranger comes from the depths of outer space known as New England Asteroid Belt. He may be a member of an ancient cult of adherents to a ritual known as the NFL.
Based on some academic research I conducted in my younger days, I'd say he was a fanatic member of the "Buff-Lo Bills" sub-cult of this NFL. They chanted "Squish The Fish" in reference to their hereditary enemy the M'iam'i Doll Fins in the hopes that their deity would look favorably on them on the two or three Sundays each year when they clashed (but he rarely did!)

My feet were a mite too big for ol' soup cans, but I found 2 industrial-size coffee tins on the side of the gravel road and they're perfect! The feathers really keep my toes comfortable!
My metal-feather sneakers got all my kin-folk jealous!
