Hi Guys Here's a set of scans of the cover to #16 in various stages - starting with a selection of thumbnail size sketches I sent in as alternative ideas for the cover This was just a quick sketch to see if further rendering on Kara's figure would look better than the 'open' look we settled on. And here's the finished article! Hope you enjoy the scans - just click on these images for larger versions Thanks as always to Nightcrawler for hosting the images!

Such a lovely thing to see first thing in the morning. I still say you do a much better job drawing Kara than her current artist(s), Barry. I love the final page, even if the focus is Supergirl (I can take that for one issue). Although seeing her in the same pose on the cover as Brainy from #1 and Cos from #7 would have been cool.

Barry, that's wonderful! Finally, a Supergirl rendition that looks like Supergirl and not Kate Moss....

Well... that definitely answers one question: It's not Power Girl Beautiful work as always!

Great cover Barry. And I agree with Scott, it would have been cool to see the Briany/Cos ring cover with Kara in it too.

Thanks! The first thumbnail had originally been the idea we were going to use, but Steve asked for a few extras just to see what I came up with and we all agreed on the one we went with in the end.

Would Steve and you agree to use a finished version of the first thumbnail as a 2nd printing cover, if the book sells out?

EEK! Another shameless blonde hussy! Just kidding. It's a pleasure to see Kara with some meat on her bones for a change. And though I'm a little disappointed about the reduced page count, I can see Year Two is going to be a gas. Thanks for all your dedication and hard work, Barry. As far as I'm concerned, you've already secured your place as one of the Legion's top artists.

Thanks Tromium! Much appreciated! I'd be happy to draw it...whether Steve agrees or not is in his hands!

This is simply amazing. Any doubts I had (which, I admit, were very little, especially compared to others) have vanished. Barry draws the best Supergirl in comics right now . I love the idea of her back in the Legion, despite all the naysayers. I want Superman when he was a boy now I also have to say, like Scott, that seeing her in the Brainy/Cos pose is pretty damn cool too!

Might I suggest using the original Supergirl cover for the TPB?

I too wanted that cover as well as the one below it (heck all of them really) when I saw this last night. I think it'd be cool to see Kara added to the smiling version as a cover: I have to add though that the cover we did get is stunning! We are so lucky we have such a talented artist on this series.

She's finally beautiful again! Thanks Barry! It's been so long since Kara looked like everyone's dream girl (no, not Dream Girl. Well, maybe Brainy but not everyone else! ) No doubt about it, Barry ranks right up there with the great Legion artists...the greatest DC artists for that matter.

Got to say of the four initial ones, I found the 2nd (the hand over the S symbol) the most striking - just the hint of uncertainty I like in a cover - but the full Supergirl is probably a better choice for attracting attention - and, as the others have noted, she's certainly lovely to see.

I agree - both were good choices. But the one they went with is more dynamic.

Wow! That's just beautiful Barry. I love it. I've been suckered into reading the new S-girl series and it's keeping me entertained. Lookin' forward to the story arc.
Booyah!
Supergirl in a Legion story! It's been waaaaaayyyy too long.

hmmm, looking at the final inked version and then reexamining the colored version, I just noticed the insignia on Supergirl's flight ring is a little *different* from all the other rings - the comet part, I mean.

I'd buy a copy (but then I'll be buying one anyway - whatever the cover looks like) That'd be cool edit: THIS is just SO cool though. I'm pretty interested in this juxtaposition of Supergirl and Superboy in the modern incarnation of DC Comics. Even if Waid decides to retell an old classic LSH tale switching out the "super-cousins" could make for quite a different story. I could really like this.
