Well, I mentioned how a friend of mine called me over Spring Break about a job opening. They JUST held interviews for it this week. It was positively one of the WORST interviews I've done ... including the interviews back in college. So it was no big deal on Friday when they called me to tell me that I didn't get the job. "BUT," Jennifer started, "I managed to get a title change for the Finance position, along with an upgrade in salary. It's what you're making now. And the job is yours if you want it." I really wanted the Finance job instead of the Student job. But the Finance job paid about 2/3 my current salary, and that was just too big a pay cut for me. I was INCREDIBLY surprised to hear she got the position upgraded!!!!! I told her I had to talk to my boss. NOT for more money from my current job, NOR for more money from Jennifer. I just had to talk to my boss. So I talked to Travis, and explained the situation to him. He took it quite well. After him, I was hit, slapped, chewed out, and guilted. All in all, my current office took things much better than I had hoped. It looks like I may even be able to complete the school year at Tomball. That's a VERY good thing, because I REFUSE to leave them in a bad position. So this new job will be about 15 minutes from my house. I should be able to fill up once a week (maybe less). I'm scared and excited. But it's nice to know I'm wanted ... both by my current job, and by my new employer. Apparently I did a better job at the interview than I thought. Maybe yelling in an interview isn't such a bad thing after all.

Like, zoinks!! HEY!!!!!! This means I'll be able to run by my comic book store on a MORE REGULAR BASIS!!!!!! AND I won't be spendin' about $25 every 3 weeks on oil changes. Now I think the fear and dread are startin' to creep in. *ulp* Monday should be fun.

That's GREAT, I know that commute you had must have sucked space-ass!
Hmm. I think I'm about 2000 miles overdue for an oil change....

Actually, I have no idea how I'm gonna unwind after a long day at work. That's what I've used the drive time for. So I'm a little worried about that. But maybe it'll mean more reading or just walkin' Wes and Shadow a bit more.
I think it's a good deal, but I'm startin' to have some problems. I made the director of finance cry today and ruin her make-up. Grife ... it's hard sayin' "Good-bye" to family. Even if I'm not leaving until the first of June. :-(

I think I prefer the "jackpot tiger" ... sounds like it pays more. Although, if I start workin' out, maybe there's hope I could resemble Toby's older brother?

OH GREAT GOOD GRIEF!!!!! THIS SUCKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I just found out that my last paycheck will be about half of my normal paycheck from my current job. No biggie, except I get it on the 25th. And that half a paycheck has gotta last until the 15th of June when I get my first paycheck from my new job???????
Maybe I could start pimpin' myself?

Belated congrats on the new job, BTW... coulda sworn I posted that here previously, but looking the thread over, I guess I didn't.

Kent - that's not a bad idea ... but I'm afraid I'd be droppin' plates and such, so I wouldn't get much of a tip.
Lucien - Heyyyyyy ... I'm looking forward to it. It means I won't be so wiped when I get home so I can bug the crap outta you people more. And just MAYBE I can finish up my origin story of the LMBP and explain a little of why you're actually an Ambassador. (And a damned fine detective, to boot.)

Beagz,
Belated congrats on the new job.
And walking the dogs sounds like a better unwind time then driving in traffic.

I can't help it if the golf carts are noisy down here!!!!!!!!
Quis - I've been thinking about that. And walkin' the dogs two or three times a day wouldn't be so bad for them ... or me!!! I could give one or both of them a short walk in the mornings (before it gets so blasted hot).
Then in the afternoons, we just head out for a nice LOOOOOOOOONG walk around the golf course.
