Okay, I don't know what possessed me to think this up. And I don't know if it's a good reflection on LW that I thought of this place straight after the scenario Okay, some villain has managed to enslave the whole Legion. Knowing, however their knack for getting out of these things, he's decided to disperse them across time & space to get them out of his road forever. One of the people he offers a Legionnaire slave to is you. If you refuse, or if you treat them as equals/superiors instead of slaves, you join them in slavedom. Realising it would be too distressing for your friends and family if you suddenly vanished into slavedom without a trace, not to mention being scared witless, you agree to take a Legionnaire as a slave. Who do you take, and what do you do with them? (We're assuming they're from the last time they were alive [and themselves, in the case of Kinetix, Livewire, etc] in the comics unless you post otherwise). Disclaimer: In real life slavery is sick and wrong. This is a hypothetical scenario involving a specific set of fictional characters. Anyone who thinks real life slavery is a good thing should seek urgent psychiatric help

Well, like any other lonely red-blooded American male who's never even so much as been kissed or went on a date in his life, I chose Triad, and yes, I did choose Option 3 for Q2!

Sometimes a scenario, however fictional and disclaimed, simply doesn't have enough of a shred of ethical value in it to make it worth even contemplating. That -- to me -- is true of this poll scenario.
I can't even envision the possibility of being such a "master," and I wouldn't want to deal with someone who'd either submit to it or enforce it. In regard to the latter, I'd hope I would have or could find enough firepower, in any century, to repel him.
Nothing against the poll-maker (welcome to LW.net, by the way), and I hope that Ayla fan will think of something else to try polling us all about later ... but I just can't vote in this one.

Oh, if we're being serious, then I wouldn't either. I just took it at what I perceived to be its intent. A joke poll. One in poor taste, but a hypothetical joke of a situation nonetheless. I don't advocate slavery in any form, I was just going along with the supposed joke. Give Triad her free will, though, (in a hired servant type scenario, rather than unwilling slavery) and if she still wanted Option 3, I'd go along with that...

Fair enough Grey. I'm certainly looking on it as a joke poll, otherwise it'd have been locked or deleted already.
I'm going to e-mail Spark's Boy about it just in case, but, looking through his past posts, he mentions that his internet time's limited on his Welcome thread and these are his first posts for a month-and-a-half, so I don't know if he'll get back to me on it (and he's using a free e-mail account to boot, with attendant unlikelihood of checking it.)

Free e-mail is less likely to be checked? You might do better to not assume that. I check my Yahoo! account, linked here, twice a day at least. It's where all my Legion and art-interest e-mail goes, to avoid having spam affect my main ISP e-mail accounts. I'd be foolish to not check it regularly.
It's easier to have such services forward mail to a central box, if you have more than one. I don't care for Yahoo's hefty tariff, though, for MailPlus, the only way to do such forwarding. So I bop in twice a day. No big.

I know it's intended as a joke poll, but I can't bring myself to vote in it either. Sorry.

Gosh.
We're at a point where we can't even JOKE about a fictional character being in servitude...
Who needsa Big Brother when we can censor ourselves?
The childhood friend Exnihil never had.

It's not "self-censorship." It's making clear that one does not support his premise. He's free to create his poll. I'm free to disdain voting in it, and to say so publicly. Disagreement is not repression.

Ummm... sorry? It was just an (intended to be) lighthearted idea I had. Thanks for trying to rip me a new one...

I apologize if I came across as a killjoy, but I have really strong views against slavery. Perhaps others may see it as too strong a view, but I stand by it and I'm sure Grey is just doing the same. In any case, Spark s Boy, I hope this doesn't discourage you from making any new polls, since if you were able to think of such an idea I'm sure you'll be able to come up with many other great, lighthearted polls.
