Soliciting what you wish and don't wish for the team in new series here.

Give one of each...

HOPE: I hope that a sane, heroic Jan Arrah is back in the heart of his adopted 'family'.

FEAR: I fear that some of my favorite characters will be 'off the canvas' for a long while.

I HOPE Wildfire will be in the lineup
I FEAR a lot of the Legionnaires won't "feel" like the people we've known all these years.

HOPE: It's a logical, retcon-free progression of the DnA team
FEAR: Massive retcons

My views are my own and do not reflect those of everyone else... and I wouldn't have it any other way.

Hope: It's successful enough to merit all this "re-imagining" nonsense.

Fear: It won't be, and we'll be going through all of this again in a year or two.

HOPE: Ultra Boy, Brainy, and Cham are there. They are shown a bit more mature (physically/mentally). It keeps the hip DnA feel.

FEARS: They go old school and bring back stuff just cause....I fear retcon of the smallest degree.

HOPE: Like others said, that the new direction, outfits, and characters are all logical extensions of the current Legionnaires (from both before and after DnA's run).

FEAR: Many characters getting thrown away (or not featured) for the events or retcons that may set up the series.

Hope: That this continues from the end of the current series and that the old Kinetix, Live Wire and even Element Lad are all back or will come back.

Fear: This will either become a massive retcon or we'll be treated to an unrecognizable "future".

HOPE: We get a version of the Legion that's completely independent of the mainstream DCU and will be allowed to thrive and develop on it's own, and which is not afraid to explore its own eccentricites, quirkinesses, and zaniness, and which doesn't take itself too seriously.

FEAR: Waid's attempts to be "indie rock" will amount to little more than a cliched edginess or attempts to be "hip" or "modern" that really miss the point of the Legion.

Hopes: the relaunch will further the effort to destigmatize the Legion as a book that's hard to get into (as opposed to the 43 regular x-titles/batbooks etc.)

Fears: Too much time will be spent delving into the mechanics of the relaunch and not just jumping into fun stories. I know I just said I want the book to be welcoming to new readers, but I hope the formalities of reintroducing the concept don't drag out too long either. What a pain I am.

Hope: That Waid's deserved rep as an excellent writer and Kitson's deserved rep as an excellent artist means great Legion stories, and the creators bring all sorts of fanboy attention to the Legion.

Fear: That I'm wrong. But I don't think I am. You're wrong. You're out of order, she's out of order, YOU'RE ALL OUT OF ORDER! And you can't handle the truth, either. So there.

But seriously, knowing Waid's track record, knowing how he feels about the Legion, and his involvement with the Legion in the past, why assume that it's going to be some kind of horrible reboot experience? I'm as excited about this as I have been anything in my fifteen years of monthly Legion collecting. We've been wishing for big name creators and industry buzz since we were all on the DC boards six years ago. Lighten up! It's gonna be great! (knock on wood...)

HOPE: It won't destoy someone's love for the Legion.
I keep reading about how it was destroyed in the most horrible way twenty, ten or two years ago, depending on what writer's getting bashed now.
But I still read about people caring for the Legion. It's nearly impossible to get every Legion fan to agree on something: we care so much that we can scream for absolutely nothing.
I really hope we'll keep screaming for ridiculous fears.
As soon as someone says "Who cares, it won't ever be more than nass", the Legion is gone.

FEAR: It'll be a massive drawback that will take years to recover. We've already seen a good couple of these, didn't we ? But so many people still think it was the best Legion ever, so nothing's ever really lost.

I trust Waid about this one. Waid's power is that he can get the real core of a series.
But there's a little, annoying voice under my purple hood that repeats "So did Byrne a long time ago...", and THAT's my fear about the relaunch.

I hope for a return of some characters currently out of comission (A bouncing Bouncing Boy, a matter eating Matter-Eater Lad, a magical Mysa or Dragonmage, a living Colossal Boy, etc.)

I fear if this new incarnation fails to hold incoming momentum (relaunched #1, Teen Titans Crossover, etc.)

Not going to happen. I've tried to get other people I know online into it before, and the reason they give for not trying is never that it's hard to get into. They fear reboots just at the point they're getting interested (and often, think it's been "Day One"ed multiple times - I even had a guy swear point black to me once that LL was a "Day One"er).
