I was going to create one, but just found this one.
I just found out yesterday that Wizard World Chicago is this week-end and i'm trying to see if i can go there.
Is there somebody here that knows if it's difficult to access?
Looking on the website of the convention, i'm trying to make sense of the maps. I think i will go by train from Ann Arbor to Chicago and then from the system map, it seems the blue line, going to the O'Hare airport, is going to Rosemont and the Stephens convention center seems to be nearby the station.
Does anyone know how is transportation in Chicago? Anyone familiar with it? Where can i find more info?
Any ideas or more information?
Thanks.

Sorry I can't be more of a help but it's my 1st trip as there as well. I'm pretty clueless on how I'm getting around too.

Hey, something I can actually help with.
Querl, you have interpreted the maps successfully! Pat yourself on the back and have a celebratory drink of your choice!
If you take the train from Ann Arbor, you will arrive at Chicago's Union Station, which is just west of the Chicago River. It's a 6-block walk (3/4 of a mile) east on Jackson Blvd to the Jackson Blue Line "EL" station (actually, a subway station at that part of the route). Take the Blue Line to O'Hare and get off at the Rosemont (River Road) stop, the last stop before O'Hare and end of the line. From the station, walk south 1 long suburban block on River Road and you will be surrounded by the glory that is the Donald Stevens Rosemont Convention Center. (Like all good convention centers, it's named after the the highly mobbed-up just deceased founding mayor of Rosemont who reigned like 50+ years).
Be prepared for the Blue Line ride to take awhile (45-60 minutes). Our EL tracks our now too decrepit to keep the "rapid" in rapid transit.
If you guys need any kind of help while you're in town, don't hesitate to call me (send PM for number). I'm not planning on attending the con at this point, but my I think my schedule is flexible this weekend (no kid birthday parties on the docket).
...but you don't have a moment where you're sitting there staring at a table full of twenty-five characters with little name signs that say, "Hi, my superpower is confusing you!"

Thanks for the info! I feel better knowing that. I think i would have gone anyway but, even if it seems close on a map, it could not be the case in reality. It's good to know i won't have any bad surprise when i'm there.
Edit: On second thoughts, maybe i will nonetheless go by car, because the hours by train are not really good. The first train leave at 8:23am, that would make me arrive at Union Station around noon, and i would have to take the train again at 6pm to go back home. It's a little short to really do something at the convention!
I'm just hoping there won't be too much road work, since it will be my first time going so far like that.

Take the Indiana Tollroad to the Chicago Skyway (it actually becomes the Skyway). The Skyway empties out onto the Dan Ryan, which IS under construction, but if you time it to avoid rush hour (after 7 pm is a safe bet), you should be fine. Get off on Lake Shore Drive North, for easy access to the downtown area and an incredible view of a beautiful city. Have fun.

Thanks for the info! I'm sure it will be of use tomorrow. I'm at work today, so i can only go tomorrow.
My plan is to leave during the night, like at 3am tonight, so i can be there for 8-9am optimistically, and avoid traffic as much as possible.

Have fun guys! Chicago is a great city! One of my favorites and you'll have a blast there, not to mention I'm sure the Con will be awesome.
I usually just use taxis since I have no idea where I'm going there of course. Be sure to try one of their super-huge steakhouses or some deep dish pizza (not really a fan, but had to try it)!

So, i was there on Saturday, and it was a long day, especially after the 6 hours drive, but it was cool.
I got to do what i was going there for: meet Whilce Portacio and Dennis Calero.
Dennis is very nice and i really like what he did. Nice art. I got 2 big prints from him: - the first one is the cover to LSH #32 - the second one is a black and white illustration where you can see Cosmic Boy in the middle, shouting, surrounded by Dominators faces. Very powerful, very expressive. I really like this one!
He also did a sketch of Atom Girl for me.

So I got back late Monday night after spending most of the day stuck in airports. That was annoying but overall I had a fairly good trip. I got some keen free swag, some action figures, comics, sketches ( An Adrian Alphona Gert and Dean Trippe Rogue & Storm are some of the highlights) & various other stuff. It was great to finally meet my friend and we got along famously.
