Many of you know that I practice law. For several years I have been working to get State Bar certified as a legal specialist in family law. It required taking another bar exam, completing additional educational requirements in family law, and completing a pretty extensive practical experience requirement involving a number of trials and settlements, as well as practice in all areas of family law. Well, today upon my return from a vacation in Canada (I went for my mom's 80th birthday), I received word from the State Bar that the Board of Specialization had approved my application and granted me certification as a specialist.
I just wanted to share this, because it's pretty important to me.

Toot! toot! Hard work rewarded - now can you goof off some, or does this mean longer hours?

No, you may not toot your own horn. However, congratulations on your achievement. So how much more can you charge now that you are a specialist?

Does this mean you won't be tending bar on the side anymore? Congrats Brent!

Go Semi! I say that we should all start extra families, just to give our pal Semi some more business!

Congrats, Counselor. I just have one question...it is legal to banish ex-wives to the phantom zone, right?

Thanks everybody. It does mean that I'll have an easier go of it when I finally have to start my own practice (but not for a couple of years I hope). I will continue to tend bar at SHAKES and I'm going to allow self-horn-tooting at least on Tuesdays during happy hour. As for whether it's legal to banish ex-wives to the phantom zone, that's more of a sentencing matter handled by the criminal courts. We don't punish in family law (unless you consider having most of your income taken for support as punishment. )

May all your domestic relations orders be qualified.
You know, if I were there I'd toot your horn. Congratulations.

I'm impressed, Lad Boy. Not to many people would have a clue about QDRO's. But didn't you say your job had something to do with ERISA?

Hey Semi, I heard the great news - so what will you specialise in - criminal work or will you strictly go pro bono (if you have to)?
