Wow, that looks *nothing* like what I'd expected, and I love it!

I've always been a fan of Jeff Moy's art, and he's still got it here! But the inker makes his art look more... "mature". The style suits the story.
No complaints about the choice of Legionnaires for the roll call, either!

Sargeant Mallor and the Shadow Troops! I love it - a great way to work in more Legion characters, even if they're not legionnaires.

This was a fun issue, if a little too slight given the price tag. It will be interesting to see the teams meet up. Guesses on the villain? Q? Infinite Man? Time Trapper? Gary Mitchell?
I liked the nods to both expanded universe (Space Rangers, Dominion, etc), and who doesn't love a Mirror Universe style story?

Ooh, I'd love to see Gary Mitchell as a bad-guy! (Or good-guy, or ambivalent guy!)
Star Trek has had some *great* Mirror Universe tales (classic series and DS9, particularly, although there was a great Mirror Universe Next Generation novel, and a really cool Voyager episode that, while not set in the Mirror Universe, was 'mirror universe-y' and included a version of Voyager that had Borg shock troops!).
The green-skinned pointed-eared first officer suggests that Coluans and Vulcans are one and the same in this mashup universe. That's intriguing.

I agree with Dave -- fun but a little light on story for the price. Roberson appears to have a good handle on the personalities of the characters for both teams. It is interesting that he chose to use the Legion from a different era rather than the modern day team. No complaints here regarding the Moys work. It's not my personal favorite style, but it is an interpretation that has a solid place in Legion history. As such, it is fun to see alumni come back from time to time. Special events like this are the perfect place. I didn't put in request for a specific cover, and got the Giffen one in my pull. It was a nice surprise.

I thought it was definitely a fun issue. I liked the art, and I liked the set-up. Though I, too, agree that it was a bit light. I was all excited when the book was so thick and felt a bit cheated at the end.
The story was a nice, quick introduction to the characters. There was one character gaffe, but I'll let it slide. I think there was also a bit of miscommunication between writer and artist. One panel had Chameleon Boy saying he didn't know how much longer he could hold the soldiers off, but he was just standing there and not changing shape or anything.
Overall, though, I definitely enjoyed it and will be picking up the rest. I swapped the Giffen cover that had been pulled (I hadn't specified) for the Phil Jimenez one. It was the last copy on the shelf at about 12:30 Wednesday, so I hope that bodes well for sales.

I preferred that backup to DC constantly shoving #$%*!@ Batman up my nose all the time. Actually, the tale reminded me (just a little, in a good way) of Zot!, wayyyy back in the early Eclipse days. BTW, is there someone out there who wanted the Giffen variant and couldn't get it...? PM me.
Somehow I ended up with an extra copy. (Don't ask. I'm so preoccupied these days that it's a miracle I can keep my head screwed on.) I don't really want to get in the habit of buying variants, when space around here is so limited. So if somebody'd like my copy, let me know. (It hasn't had time to collect cat hair or coffee rings... yet... )
Thanks.

You guys liked this issue better than I did. I was pretty disappointed by the length of the set up involved - that it took the entire issue to get the point where the two teams realized that they were even in another universe, something that we the readers of course new just from reading any of the advanced press (or failing that, reading the first couple of pages of the book).
I think the way the characters are entering into this situation feels a bit "cheap" - almost "low budget". It's the way the story very quickly isolates two groups of characters from their established contexts (and in the Legion's case, not even introducing their normal context) - makes me worry the whole story will be just these dozen characters running around on their mirror world. I'd rather see a larger sense of the two "fictional universes" really meeting - a grander sense of scale. Ultra Boy blocking a phaser shot with his body, that sort of thing. Instead all we have are "shout outs" to Darkseid and the Dominion.
Of course, I'm hoping I'll be pleasantly surprised by the rest of the story, but it does not encourage me that by the end of the issue the characters haven't even bumped into each other yet. Isn't that more of the payoff we want from such a crossover?

Not bad, but I agree that it was very light on story-especially with a $3.99 price tag. I'm still not a fan of Moy's art, just not "futuristic" enough for my taste.

I had fun with it and enjoyed reading the Trek characters with their "voices" in my head.
I'm usually the first to decry a $4 comic that isn't extra-length (or really REALLY good like Young Avengers) but this title gets a pass because it is just SO COOL to see them all in the same story.

This series seems to be off to a good start...I have to go pick up the second issue. The setup was all good. My only complaint would be when Tasmia mentioned her brother Grev. Grev is actually her cousin. Otherwise, I'm enjoying this series! I can't believe we have 4 monthly Legion books right now!!!
