So in Origins # 2 the Naltorian seer can't "see" Phantom Girl's future. In a previous issue of the main book Wildfire says that Dawnstar can't track Tinya either, something that drives her nuts. Is this a recent upgrade? I don't seem to remember this aspect of Tinya's powers having been mentioned before.
I like it, though, it gives her a new edge.
I have to say, Paul's run in the recent LSH reads much better in one go, as opposed to separate issues. I'm really liking his stuff.

It had been previously established that Dawnstar couldn't track Bgtzlns who had phased.
A previous story involved a Bgtzln pirate who would use a machine to phase his entire ship after an attack, and highlighted how Dawnstar was frustrated that their trail just 'vanished' and how she thought it was impossible.
But the precognition thing, and the inability to track a Bgtzln when they aren't phased would seem to be new extrapolations of her coming from another dimension. (In theory, Quislet could also benefit from this, unless the 'no-precog' thing is a result of Tinya coming from an alternate timeline/parallel reality, which messes with precognitives ability to scan possible timelines and pick out the one that is 'most likely gonna happen' or something.)

A quick aside, that's a really great stand-alone tale for the Legion of Super-Heroes in regards to showing every member matters. Here we have some of the mightiest Legionnaires like Superboy, Wildfire, Dawnstar, and Sun Boy unable to stop the thieves - yet Brainy's deduction and Tinya's genetics/phasing are able to save the day.
The issue always did make me hungry for more info on Bgztl. Glad to finally be getting some out of the Secret Origins mini-series.

Oh, I remember that one-shot story! I really liked that, as Future says, Brainy and Tinya were the key characters in a story that featured Superboy and other powerhouses. This is what I like about the Legion in general actually, that the quirky and lower-powered members are equally as important as the Daxamite-level characters. I haven't read any of the Origins series yet, but I dunno if I like a Naltorian not being able to sense Tinya's future specifically. Time travels at the same rate there, right? And with the right technology, there is nothing preventing non-Bgtzlr people from crossing over, so I don't see why it would work that way... I do like Dawnstar not being able to track Phantom Girl though, I thought that was kind of clever. I remember reading that when Phantom Girl was first introduced, the writers referred to Bgtzl as a fourth-dimensional world. It would be cool to see more done with Tinya relating to this...I wonder if she actually physically sees us differently, and maybe her initial attraction to Jo had something to do with the way the ultra-energy makes him different to the rest of this universe's inhabitants in a way that only a 4th dimensional inhabitant could notice? She obviously has some way of navigating inside solid objects that doesn't involve conventional sight....there is a lot more you can do with her power-wise without having to actually change anything..

Have we ever had any stories set on Bgztl? I remember one Preboot story where Tinya's cousin saves her from an assassin by hiding in Sun Boy's body. I've always found that weird - to remain hidden, he'd have to move exactly as Sun Boy did!
One good thing about the Threeboot was they at least tried to explore how Tinya's powers really worked. Having her phase in and out of Bgztl was interesting...

The idea was that the tech was at our level, but some superficial things (like cops wearing green) were different. I think the story itself may have dealt with some sort of political topic, but it's been way too long since I read it for me to remember any specifics.
First comic books ever bought: A DC four-for-47-cents grab bag that included Adventure #331. The rest is history.

^^They used dirigibles, or at least their dictator did!
For what it's worth, I've long suspected that Bgtzl was originally supposed be in the same dimension as Mxyzptlk's homeworld.

For my own fanon, I made Bgtzl into the 31st century future of the Meta-Zone, place of origin of Shade: the Changing Man.
A couple thousand years before that, it was a terrestial empire that co-existed with Atlantis, and was apparently destroyed in a mystical conflict with that nation (only, instead of being destroyed, it was shunted en masse into a phantom universe, that included, at first, only their devastated continents, but slowly expanded to encompass an entire alternate earth).

I believe Phantom Girl's origin story in the old Secret Origin's comic was set partly og Bgztl.
If the meek shall inherit inherit the Earth, then I at least want Baffin Island - and a property manager to work for me who is made of sterner stuff than I.

[/b]Sorry bout that, I thought they skipped over it due to the whole Superboy / Crisis thing. Ah well, I had stopped paying attention to the Tales title by that point.
Active LMB character is still Beast Boy.

That issue was recently reprinted in the TPB The More Things Change. I'd forgotten how great Lightle's art in that issue, and really, his whole run, really is. I've always wondered if the pirate in question was meant to be the Phantom Lad who tried to replace PG in SLSH 212.
