I really liked it as well. Both Kell and Zyx were a lot more interesting than I thought they would be. The Trials weren't all that great, but I did like the "Beard!"/"You already said that! It was a stupid answer the first time!" exchange. The final battle with Mordru went a little quickly, but I thought he came off as a credible threat.

I definitely liked this episode better than the last one (same writer). I loved seeing the White Witch. Minor plot hole. The "spell" Zyx taught Kell, Zyx called it a compass spell. So why did it have an effect upon the changed Legionnaires?

I thought he called is "counter-spell". Presumably it undoes magic? Which was a bit chessy given that anybody can do it.
I also didn't really like the Harry Potter-esque incantations for doing magic.

It was great seeing the White Witch even as a hologram. I don't think that WW is JUST a hologram though even though that might be her only appearence in the series. A couple of reasons for that.
1) On a world that everyone does sorcery and so tied up with red tape. It seems to be a very likely honor to one they hold in high regard.
2) Good interplay between kell and Zyx.
3) If you make Modru all powerful there is no way that Legion is going to be able to take him down unless it is some really lame. The idea that he would skip the Trial and go on a hunt to obtain other magics and then go and beat the hell out of the planet rings true to his character for me. Modru is also prone to overconfidence and again that was his downfall in this episode.

I didn't mind the Harry Potter spells. I think it was to point out how on the Sorcerer's World, anyone can do magic if only they concentrate hard enough. Magic on the Sorcerer's World is sort of like the electro-magnetic field on Earth.
And they could have made Mordru all-powerful; just give him that phobia of being buried alive that he always had in the old days of the Legion. That would, of course, make Star Boy the most dangerous Legionnaire as far as Mordru is concerned.
Watching television is not an activity.

Clips are up. Including next week's promo for "In Your Dreams." (I don't know why there's a "ghost" link, please ignore it.)

Besides the Kell-El/Zyx interactions and an appearance from the White Witch, there wasn't much to write home about in this episode.
Maybe I'm just bitter that Phantom Girl was underused in this episode, but does anyone else get the feeling that Kell-El is taking away screen time from the other legionnarres? There just seemed to be a lack of teamwork in some episodes this season. On that note, what was the point of some legionnarres being there at all if their only purpose is to fill up space?
For example, Timber Wolf has gotten more screen time this season than last season, but since "Cry Wolf" he hasn't really stood out as much. It's basically this: He says some throw-away lines( the "I think they spotted us" line sounded more like something BB would say), turns into his "feral mode" to kick some ass(which, IMO, he doesn't even need sometimes), blends into the background, and repeat. He's still one of my favorites and everything, I just like him better in smaller doses like last season.
And Phantom Girl, where have you been? You only appeared in three episodes this season so far, and we definitely could have used some more of your snark. The same goes to you, Bouncing Boy.
Sorry for the rant, guys. I'm just upset that the show is ending so soon, and I don't want to look back on it and not be content.

The series could go on for years and it still would not be enough for some people. I just back and enjoy the stories.

I got the feeling that everybody was doing that, except for Kell and Zyx. It was a very predictable episode -- entertaining, but with no real surprises other than the White Witch cameos. I'm almost glad the trials weren't hard -- it would have made the episode seem even more contrived than it was. Oh, well. You can't win 'em all.

That was a terrible episode. At least half the running time of the episode was wasted on Kel and Zyx, who are both very annoying characters. None of the other Legionnaires got any character development at all. Like Matthew said, Mysa's guest appearance was pointless since she was just a recorded voice.
Also, who else figured out the answer to the riddle before Zyx did?

because Kell lost his powers, I think, I know he had lost them earlier and I don't know if they were still on or not, oh well.
I enjoyed the Kell/Zyk interaction, had some good moments and were pretty cute. The fight scene at the begining was good, nice use of everyone's powers.
However, I couldn't figure out the ending, it seemed like they just dog piled on Mordu, what was the point of Zyk getting his magic back if it didn't really do much? and why was a simple counter-spell so powerful?
The trials were pretty weak, and I think they should have cut that out altogether and found a different way to take out Mordu.
Still, I enjoyed it in basic, Saturday morning cartoon, kind of way, but if this show every fully comes out on DVD this ep is probably one I won't bother watching again
