"Legion of Super Heroes" unveils another all-new episode -- entitled "Trials" -- in the series all-new timeslot -- 9:30 a.m. -- this Saturday, March 15 on Kids' WB on The CW.

In "Trials," the evil sorcerer Mordru has attacked the magical planet of Zarok, forcing the young and immature wizard Zyx to turn to the Legion for help. While the Legion battles Mordru, Zyx must restore his own powers by passing a series of trials designed to prove his worth as a wizard. He'll have Kell-El along to assist. "Trials" was written by Steven Melching and directed by James Tucker.

sorry but i disagree. i might have agreed with you there if if wasn't for the complete lack of mary-sueism with Kell.. he started off "im just as powerful as superman but with none of his lame weakness to kriptonite, im hard core. and i dont need any one's help."okay cool thats what he's like then fine keep writing him like but that in the span of one ep, he's suddenly bonded with team members and part of a working team, oh and let not forget how quickly he got over his "brainiac 5 cant be trusted." mode if they were going to change his personalty fine just do it slowly..also kell kinda to me at just shows up to be the token superman...most eps he's in i think would have not been different if he wasn't there at all....thats not the making of a lasting memorable character..it not that i dislike him, i want to like kell, i just haven't found a reason to yet

I kind of have to agree. In the last couple of episodes, Kell-El could have been replaced with Kal-El and it really wouldn't have made much difference.

If they want to establish two different Supermen with two different personalities, then they shouldn't be practically interchangable.

I hear what you are saying. They haven't "done enough"/"done what they were suppose to". I kinda feel the same way about they whole series. But I would hate to see him killed off just yet. Besides , it was fun in the begining.

I disagree with that. The whole point the Terra Man episode was that Kell-El could be something more than just the mission, destroying whatever was in his way. It added a lot more dimension to his character. Because of his "mission" he is going to be hanging more with the Legion because anything Imperix is up to the Legion will probably get wind of it first and he wants to be on the front lines. As a result of that, any minor parts that could go to either Superman will go to Kell-El.

Yeah they seem to write his character to make it fit with the episode. I would enjoy him a lot more if he had an identity and personality that was drastically different from Superman's, so much so that he's constantly conflicted because he sees how the original Kal-El acts, and he's not quite sure who he should be, as his sole purpose in life is to destroy Imperiex. And yeah, he did kinda go from being all "I work alone", to joining up with the Legion. It makes sense why he would join up with them, but it was a very sudden and awkward transition. Kell-El isn't bi-polar is he?...

Lots of jumps with his character, I remember the Timber Wolf ep where TW was on trial, and all of a sudden a) Kell was just hanging around HQ and b) he was being a good friend the TW.

I think they have dropped the ball in hilighting the differences between Superman and guy with his powers.

Plus kinda sad that I don't see Mysa in this ep. Should I know Zyx?

But I still think this ep looks awesome! When I saw the previews at the end of last weeks ep my jaw hit the floor.

Zyx appeared in an episode from last season. He seemed like a more juvenile version of Mr. Mxyzsptlk.

The trials were kinda easy, but still entertaining. Mordru was great, but yes... seeing the White Witch was the biggest thrill of the show.

I wouldn't go that far. The White Witch wasn't much more than one of those artificial female voices that guide you through a voicemail tree. I thought it was a pretty lame episode.

Yeah, nothing takes the sting out of the cancellation of the show you've been waiting your whole life for like a stinker, stinker episode like this. Man, this was bad. I have no problem taking characters and ideas from the Legion's long history and remixing them. Heck, I'm all for it. But this version of Mordru was lame, laME, LAME! I even kinda liked Zzyxx (sic?) in his first appearance, and really kinda dug the bureaucratic control of magic thing they did. But this was just lame. I also realize that you can easily take Mordru in 2 different directions: one, the chilling, all-powerful, unstoppable Mordru; or, two, the farcical, self-parody Mordru. Since the creative staff didn't want to take the time to do the first, they expediently chose the second. Too bad.

...but you don't have a moment where you're sitting there staring at a table full of twenty-five characters with little name signs that say, "Hi, my superpower is confusing you!"

I actually enjoyed the semi cheese factor of this episode. It was great to hear an evil laugh from Mordru (and interesting that the wizard we all thought was Mordru last season wasn't).

I thought the first fight scene, especially, was pretty cool. If there's one thing this show gets right on a fairly regular basis is showing off some cool uses of powers. Phantom Girl did some great phase fighting, and Bouncing Boy was pretty effective for having one of the "lame" powers.

It was a nice way to work the White Witch in, even if she didn't get to do anything. It shows there are some people on the staff who really are Legion fans.

The trials themselves weren't anything spectacular, especially the last one (it shows teamwork to let your teammate take the pounding?), but they only get half an hour.

All in all, I thought it was a pretty good episode.

I enjoyed it. I liked the interaction between Zyx and Kell. Finally he meets someone who will be as rude to him as he is to others.

And Mysa! angel I wish she hadn't been just a hologram, though.

And I second what Suddenly Seymour said; BB was kicking some butt!

I enjoyed this episode. It was nice to see attention paid to the character development of Zyx (without attempting some noir duplication of previous plots (I'm lookin' at you
timberwolf!)) and the continuity of the presence of a Sorcerer's World. Good fun.
