Alex Ross is amazing! Looking at his Legion artwork it is just beautiful. It captures a very important time in Legion history like the long painting he did of the Legion soaring upwards in space..or the painting of the Legion looking in the time bubble at the 20th century. He just nails the iconic Legion, those great Dave Cockrum sleek, modern simple works of art. No pockets, zippers, Legion belts, etc.. This Legion was all individual looking as well as being United Planets heroes. These images are so powerful that after all these years we got the Legion from 1958-1994 and most if not all it's history back! reBOOT...NAH! Now it is time to return this group in costumes that were around in some form for a long time. Superman, Batman, Green Lantern, Flash...all in costumes around for ever! Iconic! If they were changed over the years they always came back to the original designs!
Bring back Lightning Lad's great costume! Princess Projectra regal red and yellow with crowns, Shrinking violets amazing green and black design! Even Phantom girls pony tails...Timber Wolf's lupine look! Element Lad's blue and green etc.....

Now is the time!!

Which costumes are iconic is a matter of opinion. To me, they're the silver age ones, some of which we've seen in Adventure comics, but they don't always get the details right.

I thought Projectra's red, yellow, and pink costume was hideous.

Costumes are always a mixed bag. I always like some more than others. No big thing.

It's not necessary to me that everyone get their "classic" look back, even if we could all agree as to what that was.

I'm in agreement with you imskian78, the Legion has never looked better overall before or since than when they wore the Cockrum costumes, few costumes have ever been an improvement on his designs IMO.

Anyone else think it's odd that the Legion Flight Rings and / or Trannsuits provide adequate environmental protection to allow Triplicate Girl to function in outer space, but that Tellus still has to wear a breather?

What is he, sushi? How does he not rate the same sort of life-support equipment that everyone else gets?

I'd say maybe the trannsuits can't duplicate his native atmosphere?

But, he doesn't carry any form of tank for atmosphere storage or even a rebreather setup so I don't get the mask, either.

One of my favorite things about the Legion is that they were never forced to keep out dated outfits, like Wonder Woman, Superman, the Flash, etc..

I'd put them all in new look costumes every few years, if I could.

I especially hate the Grell suits.
I think the whole era, our clothes and theirs, needs to be burned and NEVER returned to!
Especially Lydda's, Imra's, Projectra's, Tinya's, Shady's, Cos's and Tyroc's.

Except for Imra and Jeckie, those are some of my favorite Legionnaire looks (though not necessarily my favorite for each of those characters)! And I acutally like Imra's, just not for *her*. I think it'd be cool if she bequeathed it to some other heroine (with a different logo than Saturn for the belly 'clip').

Fashion is really a subjective topic ... EVERYone is going to have differing opinions and noone is right either way.
I really enjoyed the Grell classic costumes (yes even Princess Projectra's red, pink and yellow one) and especially Saturn Girl's pink suit with the Farrah Fawcett hair.
It was a coming of age time for me, I guess that's where a lot of the love is coming from ... lots of fond memories when I look back at the old pics and costumes, that's for sure.

I like the 'Cockrum-esque' nature of Projectra and Imra's outfits at the time (and Polaris, over at that other company). He was the only artist who seemed to enjoy putting fiddly little details onto costumes, or to use laces. My interest in Jeckie's outfit had nothing to do with being a teenaged boy, 'though, because I never really found her attractive. Must have been that, with short wavy silver hair, she reminded me too much of my grandmother...

Saturn Girl, I liked at the time, because it looked like my Farah Fawcett poster (which I looked up recently on the internets, and WOW, was that not as hot as my teenaged self remembers), but these days, it's just silly, and I like her better in something that looks like a uniform, with a high collar and one of her more severe hairstyles. Decades of exposure to telepathic sci-fi organizations like Babylon 5's Psi Corps or Trinity's Ministry for Psionic Affairs, makes me want something a little more serious and perhaps slightly sinister looking for Imra (and Titanians in general)...

I love that Saturn Queen's outfit, while different than Imra's uniform, still has the same design sensibilities, giving the Titanian culture a *tiny* hint of having distinctive styles of their own. (Mentalla's outfit also seemed to follow these same sort of lines, although Esper Lass blows this theory away...)
