And Mordru gets a mention here:

DEMON KNIGHTS #2
Written by PAUL CORNELL
Art by DIOGENES NEVES and OCLAIR ALBERT
Cover by TONY S. DANIEL
On sale OCTOBER 12 • 32 pg, FC, $2.99 US • RATED T
The siege that will reverberate through history to the present-day DCU begins as the Demon Etrigan and his unlikely lover, Madame Xanadu, face the Horde! What five (mostly) noble souls would be crazy enough to join them? The cover gives but a hint, and the point could well be moot by the time this issue’s done. For the Horde is armed with the magic of Mordru – including some decidedly different dragons!

I'm actually disappointed with this month. No Halloween special.

ohhh I LIKE IT A LOT!

Tinya's hair, Jo and Chemical Kid's costumes, the general look that says straight up this is something alien which the Legion has been lacking since it relaunched. Very excited for the re-relaunch! smile

I did get a bit freaked out for a sec because I thought Cham is gonna be packing a gun until I realised he was mid-shapeshift..

Nice....I like the art a lot. And Portela really seems to get how Dragonwing should look. I like Chemical Kid and Ultra Boy's new costumes as well.

Really digging the art and the story elements I saw just from that page alone. Excited for the Legion in DCNu, at least. Not sure what was wrong with Jo's last costume, but it'll grow on me. Digging Tinya's hair, too.

Hm... so now they are soliciting Archive #13??? After all these years, in the middle of total DC upheaval? Hm... strange.

Did like those Portela previews pages though. Really think he has this certain "specialness" that Cinar was missing. Read some of his Heroes for Hire recently and really liked his artwork.

Eh. This art is all right, but I don't like it as much as I liked Cinar's. It seems kind of cluttered and overly busy here, though some of that may have to do with the coloring.

shrug

I really liked the preview art and think Portela will do a fine job on art duties. I'd also like to see him and Paul collaborate a bit on the overall design/look of the future.
I never really felt Cinar was a good fit for the book, remember his cardboard protest signs and Saturn girl breaking through a glass window??? He just didn't have a solid grasp that this book is set 1000 years in the future. He is a great artist and I think Firestorms will be a fantastic fit for his style

If anyone can enlighten me as to the following, I'd be much obliged:

regarding:
Quote
DC COMICS PRESENTS: SUPERBOY’S LEGION #1
Written by MARK FARMER • Art and cover by ALAN DAVIS and MARK FARMER
On sale OCTOBER 19 • 96 pg, FC, $7.99 US
A rocketship blasts away from an exploding planet and into the 30th century, where its passenger grows up to become Superboy, founder of The Legion of Super-Heroes! Reprinting the two-issue miniseries!
I don't recall there ever being a two-issue mini-series called "Superboy's Legion", and I'm usually pretty vigilant about LSH appearances ...did I somehow miss it? If so when did it come out?

Thanks in advance!

It's one of my favorite Legion stories ever, even if it's an Elseworlds.

Thank you all very very much!

I'll have to be sure and not miss the reprint.

I suspect that Superboy's Legion is one of the most important Legion stories ever written because although an elseworlds, it was essentially a story featuring the Adventure era Legionnaires with Superboy. The reaction to its publication must have played a big part in the Lightning Saga being published a couple of years later.

Maybe the retro trades are doing really really well?

Speaking of the archive solicit:

Quote
LEGION OF SUPER-HEROES ARCHIVES VOL. 13 HC
Written by JIM SHOOTER, PAUL LEVITZ and GERRY CONWAY
Art by MIKE GRELL, MICHAEL NETZER, JOE STATON, JIM SHERMAN
and others • Cover by MIKE GRELL
ADVANCE SOLICITED • On sale MARCH 21 • 240 pg, FC, $59.99 US
In these stories, collected from SUPERBOY AND THE LEGION OF SUPER-HEROES #224-233, the 30th century teens battle Stargrave, The Fatal Five and the intergalactic conspiracy known as The Dark Circle.
A few things:
1. Sixty bucks? You know, Marvel is releasing all its archives (a.k.a. "masterworks") in paperback at $25 a pop, and you can get them on Amazon for $16... no desire to compete? just saying...

2. Talk about no respect... no mention of the death of Chemical King?!? Sheesh...

3. One more archive to the Earthwar Saga (my fave, and perfect timing to highlight Levitz's talents), but they are going to have to make it a bit longer than this if they don't want to split it down the middle, as that ends at #245 as I recall (some relief from #339 or such being a reprint, but then there's also the wedding Tabloid C-55 thing, which they *HAVE* to include, plus most of these issues are double-length until #245...)
