Spider Girl? If I remember correctly, you're speaking of the female figure with a long blue hair, right? that's Spider Girl but going by the name of Wave....correction is welcomed.

I noticed that Superman mentions discovering his weakness to magic. This obviously took place in "Child's Play" which hasn't aired yet, but which was supposed to be episode 7.

Oh man oh man oh man. That episode was great! I laughed through most of it and picked up on a lot of the kryptonite and sun refs on the second time through. Those closing lines between Brainiac 5 and Superman are starting to spawn more plot bunnies, though... D'OH.

I was amazed by how much accurate information Brainy was blurting out along with all that useless (but HILARIOUS) stuff.

"Superman shouldn't play with red "ants" (suns)"

"Too much red. Red in the suns. Suns should be yellow."

"Superman, green rocks killed the last sun (or "son" you can't really tell can you). There's red, blue, gold, purple."

But what really got me thinking was when he said, "Last sun(son), is my friend." I was almost in tears at that.

But anyway, very good episode. I've watched it about 3/4 times already. What I don't get though, why does Brainy not want to tell Superman anything, if they say they're just gonna erase his memory when he goes back? And as I was listening to those lines from Brainy, I started to think they were from a long list of lines Brainy'd never say.

"You think that's funny? I've got a joke for you. When do we need to be there? Real Zunn!"

"He's doomed. We all are. Oh, wanna hear a joke?"

"I'm always thinking about you. Because according to the restraining order, that's all I'm allowed to do."

I've posted a pretty extensive review here .

"BOTTOM LINE: "Brain Drain" does have a few lapses of logic along the way, but that's to be expected, I guess, in an episode that focuses on Brainic 5's sometimes tenuous grasp on reality. Overall, the sheer fun of insane Brainy, coupled with the gosh-wow visual delights of Timber Wolf in action, make up for any shortcomings this episode may have.

My take on it was that if he'd flown with Superman, the mutants would have been on both their tails, but by allowing Superman to fly while TW ran, it gave the mutants an easy target to follow (Timber Wolf), allowing Superman to get... ahead. ;-)

one thing I noticed about this episode, that I particulary HATED, was the way Brainy's nose and neck were drawn in the first part of the episode while still at Legion headquarters. His nose looked pig-ish and his neck was like, twice it's usual width. bleh.

Tmberwolf was completely awesome. I couldn't believe how much effort they put into actually coreographing his moves. A lot of cartoons these days don't really pull the camera back like that and give us all the intricate flips, whirls, leaps and dives so you can actually see bodies twisting in motion, followed by the connection of a kick or punch. Really excellent job they did.

Nobody caught the Star Wars reference? It was the best laugh I got in the whole episode.

When Brainy is explaining to them what's about to happen to him, he calls up video file TK-421. That's the same call number asthe Stormtrooper guarding the Milennium Falcon on the Death Star. When the officer in the control room sees him gone he gets on the commlink and says "TK-421, why aren't you at your post?"

Then he gets hit by a wookie.

I missed the SW ref, but wasn't the mining powersuit that Superman ended up in an Aliens ref? It was the right color and shape.

Didn't the guy who came out of the Phantom Zone using magic on Supes? In my mind, that's how I explained to myself, what Superman said.

Director Lad, THANKS for noting that! I *knew* there had to be some significance to that file #, but I couldn't figure out what it was. I kept thinking it *should've* been TMK-247, which is way more Legion-y.

"Brain Drain" had some very funny lunatic moments but I also found it kind of repetitive. Brainy as the Damsel in Distress. T-Wolf smashing robots. Clark overcoming his fears and limitations to save the day. We've seen it all before, and recently.

Don't get me wrong, it was an amusing half-hour. It's just not an episode I'll be especially eager to watch again and again.

I wouldn't mind seeing the transmatter boss again, though. He reminds me a lot of my Uncle Louie. smile

I thought the episode was only so-so myself. There were a few particularly good moments (the "Koko" reference being one), but a lot of the episode (including the whole body goes missing subplot) just seemed to me like filler. Probably the best part was actually the end, with Superboy calling Brainy out regarding not telling him about his red sun weakness.

Oh, and has there ever actually been purple kryptonite? I'm curious about it.

I actully liked this episode! That's a first for me with this series! I still don't think the show is all that great (and certainly nowhere near the quality in either writing or art of the Teen Titans cartoon) but with the improvements of this episode and next week's appearance of Gim (YES!) I can only hope that this show is now on an upswing.

Still hate the robotic aspect of Brainy though. But I was chuckling away at all the predicaments his head was getting in. (Less so his body - that Garth/Imra sub-plot was a drag.)

I enjoyed it but mostly cause I loved Timberwolf in action. Oh, and since it's the first time I've seen a new episode in what feels like months.

I thought the Divias subplot was pretty cute because it was like they were unknowingly practicing for parenthood. Have you ever put a hyperactive toddler in the same room as Grandma's precious glass knick knacks? They can't help themselves from running amok like Brainy's headless body in a crystal forest. (I do believe there's a law against electrocuting them and tying them up, though.)

Three-year old Venusian wiggler, indeed.

Thought I'd put this here since this episode is Brainy-centric, and I didn't think it was worth a separate thread.

Adam Wylie (Brainy's voice) will be playing a very important role (Boq) in the Los Angeles production of "Wicked." His cast bio at http://www.wickedthemusical.com/LA/bios-cast.htm mentions his current TV role, but misspells it "Legions of Superheroes." Doesn't anyone ever edit these things?

if "wicked" is a musical...does Adam actually sing something?!

Or do they just refer to it as a musical to make it sound more catchy?

It's a full-blown musical -- and a highly enjoyable, at that. He gets to sing.

So today I:

1. Woke up before 10am.

2. Remembered the LSH toon comes on at 10am.

3. Caught this episode at 10am!

It was cute.

Kinda Cary Bates-ish with so few Legionnaires featured, but that becomes less of a problem in the later episodes I've seen (SUBS) and heard about (SUNDOWN).

Yep, I'm a fan.

EDIT: Oh, and re: captions, yes they are frequently incorrect. Coluans is spelled KAluans here-- made me want a drink-- and Koko was cocoa. In the eps I've seen with tenzil, his space-surname is spelled KIM. *annoyance!*
