The mass marketing value of being an FCBD gold selection probably outweighs the direct sales they'll lost the first month.

The full FCBD lineup is now up at Newsarama.

Some great selections for both adults and kids. I'm getting me some Lone Ranger.

You also don't put up anything weak for FCBD. It shows DC has high hopes for this title as they will use it to represent their 'tween' line to all those who do use FCBD as a way to see what's available, those new to comic books, and those stranger than us who happen in that day

LSH has only been fully rebooted post-crisis. Each time, they try to work in how the team formed and trip over whether or not, and how, to tie it to the DC mythos of the past (Pre-30th-31st Century), especially the Superman family.

Now I am not saying that the Legion as a concept has to be dependant upon the Superman legacy, oh no indeed. I'm saying that DC rarely lets the property stand on its own without figuring out a way to connect it to the red and gold 'S'.

Personally I can think of about a dozen different ways to relaunch the Legion to appeal to both old and new Legion fans, though I'll be the first to admit it would be that much more interesting to those familiar with the DC universe and it's history. Basically the difference between, "Oh that's a neat idea" and "OMG! Why didn't they think of that before."

The animated series goes to show that if you stick with and stay true to the original idea of the LSH and the personalities of it's characters, there is a lot you can do to entertain both ol'schoolers and newbies alike.

Please check out my quick editorial comment on Mike Weiringo's website blog under 'Lost Heroes'.
It goesd into this a bit, albiet with a melancholy aire.

I've already requested this series at the CBS. Looking forward to it.

I also don't like the character depictions on that cover art, but agree that the interiors look better.

Besides Superman's face being strangley out of proportion, that's a pretty cool ad.

Er...that's because it was a two page spread that I pieced together at Clark's face.

Honestly, I think the "...if they don't kill each other first!" tagline is stupid, overused and not really appropriate to the series (it made a lot more sense for season 1 Teen Titans) but I understand it's marketed for kids who probably haven't seen that line a ba-jillion times

I do agree about the "if they don't kill each other first" line... I really think they could have could up with something better suited to the series. But other than that, I think it's a pretty nifty ad. XD Nice artwork of all the characters. laugh I'll have to see if my local shop will let me set up a subscription.

Wow. You could knock me over with a feather. The new Legion toon book actually got a mention in the Church owned newspaper here (SLC), The Deseret News .

Got to be a sign of the end times when they start covering comic book news.

How is the LSH dependent on Superboy and / or Supergirl? Yes the pre-Crisis team was inspired by Superboy but I have always felt the team (and the books writing) was best when the Kryptonians were not around. The LSH, for me, has always been about a group with each member having limited powers finding unique ways to combine those powers to meet all comers. If anything Superboy's presence seamed to weaken the team as they would sit back and let him take the lead instead of stepping up to meet the problem head on.
Well I disagree, I read it because Superboy WAS the lead and made it better for his presence. Like Superman in the Justice League, it works best with him at the center. Like Captain America and the Avengers.

I didn't like this comic...the art was up to scratch inside, but on the front, Saturn Girl looked like a chipmunk frown ...

I couldn't tell when it was flashbacks, but the background tends to change colour in a flashback. From what I gathered, Brainy thought that Lightning Lad worshipped Supes, who was stuck up, and Saturn Girls flashback was the proper one...
