Beauty Blaze and Echo! Cool! Can't wait to see them in action after all these years. I was wondering, though, if after this failed attempt to change history, the LSV may find, ironically, that their future is now changed and they have to face the threeboot Legion?

Echo certainly benefits from the updated look. He didn't look very threatening in the original.
Does this mean we see Lex & Mr. Mxy in issue #18?

That's why the legion is always teen-aged youths. A series with them as adults would just have them getting really tired by the end of the issue.

It just occurs to me looking at these panels that one of the really cool things about the Adult LSH and LSV is that the heroes and villains actually LOOKED like adults -- receding hair-lines, love handles, wrinkles.
...but you don't have a moment where you're sitting there staring at a table full of twenty-five characters with little name signs that say, "Hi, my superpower is confusing you!"

Anyone wonder why Ras Al Ghul isn't involved in more wholesale genocide in this story? Why concentration camps if your goal is to reduce world population?

That's what I love about this story - now that I'm older. You figure the legionnaires are in their 30s, since we see some of them with children, babies to about 10 years... they certainly didn't age well. The stress of superheroing, I guess... Was this the impression of young writer Jim Shooter? Artist Curt Swan would have been 47 himself at this point - maybe he was drawing himself.

(There's a word to describe when you rearrange the letters of a word and then try to figure out the real word, but I can't think of it right now.)

At least it means I'll pay attention to it for a while where I was flat out ignoring it previously. I know a lot of people aren't thrilled with S/B, and I admit to only having come on board with Supergirl. The stories might only be average, too, but I've found that they're fun. Loeb clearly loves some of the old elements of the DCU and really seems to want to show how much he loves them. I'd say his goals have less to do with fitting perfectly into continuity and more to do with making a fun read. As I see it, that's not all that different from the Silver Age.

My co-workers wouldn't understand if I told them I'm laughing at "RAINBOW FRELLING KRYPTONITE?!!" That's not half as funny as calling it "revisionary crap" since Rainbow Kryptonite did used to exist.

Which requires it to have previously existed, since there must be a state to revert TO. Read the post before you trash it for something it didn't say. And I'm sick of DC reverting to stuff they'd moved beyond.

Another one someone just reminded me of:
Luthor was OPENLY allied with Darkseid during "Our Worlds At War", and they use "exposing" this alliance as grounds to remove him from power?

I thought you said "Revisionary crap" too. Cool, another new word. First hebitudenous and now reversionary. Fun and educational at the same time. Legion discussions really do space-rawk.

Reversionary Crap vs. Revisionary Crap!
I think, for the comics fandom, this sums up almost every argument ever!
*vastly amused*
And, is it wrong to admit that I'm only reading S/B for the pretty?

Ironically, I bought Legion Archive #6 (which contains Adventure #355) this week. I read Superman/Batman Friday night, and I'm in the middle of the adult Legion story right now. I buy one, maybe two, Legion archives a year, and I had never read the Adult Legion story previously. Just happened that I got it the same week this story comes out.

Oh holy crap, that's cool. I don't read Supe/Bats, but I jumped in for this arc because of Pacheco, and the LSV. And it's been a wholly entertaining story.
I'll still likely bail when it's done though.

Well this is the only Superman or Batman comic I buy and I love it! And I'm loving this arc and this issue especially! I can't see why anyone wouldn't as well but they're welcome to their opinon.
I've got one thing to say - HOW COOL ARE THE LSV!?!?! I've never once thought of the original LSV as being an interesting or threatening villain team but this arc has TOTALLY changed my mind! Would LOVE it if this team, as presented here, would show up to menace the LSH in Waid's new series! That would ROCK!
Thanks for the images of the original Echo and Beauty Blaze, Nightcrawler. I'd never heard of them outside of the half-dozen or so Survivor games that they're names have popped up on but its great to see Loeb sticking so close to established LSV history! And their updates courtesy of Pacheco are FAB!
Can't wait for the conclusion!

Are we sure that's Echo (since he doesn't look like him) and not the Luthor robot? It seems like a Luthor robot would make more sense when going up against Superman.

You could be on the right track, PDG. Does anyone remember the Unknown Legionnaire? (I think that was the name.) This Legionnaire wore a mask and appeared to be male. It turned out to be Supergirl. Of course, they should have had Satan Girl, but I guess we can't have everything.

I was right there with you until issue #3 of this current arc. Jeph Loeb has a tendency sometimes to over-write things. The chaotic direction that the book has taken almost seems to me like he's letting the story get away from him. The other thing that bothers me is that he has stated that since this is all in-continuity, this arc will have lasting reprecussions on both characters. Does this mean that Batman will remember killing his parents murderer? Will Superman & Batman remember ruling the world? Killing Diana & the others? I hope I mis-read the quote. The series started out with a great "holy Sh-t!" moment by including Cosmic King, Saturn Queen & Lightning Lord, but lost it (IMO) the minute the non-stop reality hopping began. Here's another question (which may have been addressed before & just didn't want to read every post that came before), are these the current LSH continuity versions of the LSV?
