I couldn't agree more. It's cool that the Legion are one of the few books to offer a decent black female character - but her "I can do whatever I want powers" have always got on my nerves. And what's Superboy doing hanging around? Get rid of him! This whole arc has been extraordinarily dragged out, they could have done it in 3 issues easily. It bugs me that we are subjected to these poorly paced 6 parters just because they want to collect them into a trade book.

There just doesn't seem to be much to discuss on this issue - here we are with only two pages...
I wonder what the editor's role is in all this. We criticize the writers but isn't it the editor's job to ensure that the plotholes are plugged, the pacing is good and the characters are well developed?

I've been a staunch defender of DnA for saving the Legion title from cancellation four years ago with Lost and Worlds. I still believe it was during their shift that the Legion came off life support and back to some respectability.
That said, I confess I've been disappointed as well with Dream Crime and Foundations. As much as the writing saved the Legion then, it's been the artwork alone that has carried the title for the last year and a half. I'm convinced that DnA have taken on WAAAAY too many projects, and the Legion stories have been watered-down as a result.
Issue#30: page 1 has 12 words of dialogue; page 6 has 16; page 7 has 11 words; page 8 has 6 words (if you count "gnnh" as a word). This has been 'Friday afternoon' writing. If it were a manufactured car, it'd probably be a lemon. I wish DnA all the best, but for the Legion readers it is time for a change.

Originally posted by Super Lad Kid: I noticed plotholes in the early DnA stories, too. I just didn't mind so much because we were seeing a much more exciting Legion than we had seen in many a year. The personalities of the characters coming through more than made up for such sillines as Live Wire electrocuting a being that absorbed energy, or Saturn Girl hypnotizing everyone into thinking Apparition was present. Um wasn't it Abnett and Lanning who gave us the silliness of Saturn Girl Hypnotizing everyone to think that Apparition was around? And speaking of that, why would Ultra Boy become attracted to Saturn Girl right after finding out that she was fooling him with Tinya's image? Back to Issue 30. It suffers from the whole time travel paradox contradictions that can ruin stories. I agree with the other comments that Abnett & Lanning's writing seems more rushed and sloppy then their earlier stories. And I was never a big fan of their earlier stories. So when does the new writer take over?

Just to say something positive, I really liked the concept of the arc. I'm even really excited that we have a Superboy again. But I do have to echo the "it just doesn't make much sense" and "where's the beef" sentiments. I look forward to some new blood on the title.

i have to agree with FAT CRAMER's notion of holding the editor somewhat responsible. it was on K.C.Carlson's watch that we got Roger Stern indulging in such silliness as Projectra as snake, "Ze Tongue", Night Girl in a beehive hairdo, and LeViathan. and KC is supposedly a big LSH fan. i wish he explained all of those choices in his interview in Legion Companion. as far as this run, i would really like Steve Wacker to explain allowing seemingly arbitrary plot developments like Cub's aging, gaping plotholes, almost no dialogue for the majority of the Legion characters for years. not a good way to obtain high sales. it's very puzzling. someone's asleep at the wheel. if it's the writers, then it's the editor's job to reign them in and straighten them up.

And all this confusion cannot be good for the neophyte reader. If the whole damn point of the reboot was to make the Legion "accessible" to new readers, I can't imagine that anyone picking up this particular arc would NOT feel lost. Hell, I feel lost. Which one is Superboy? Darkseid wanted to take over his body from when he was young? What?

Wasn't this under McAvennie's editorship? My memory is that it was once Carlson stepped down that the reboot Legion fell apart. Strange that once McAvennie left, DnA's run started to go downhill...

So how come Clark's hair was short when he was a servant of darkness and then long again when he had his own clothes on at the end of the story? Does he have a super hair growing button in the middle of his back?

LEGION #30-- Generally, I like what they’re doing. It was cool to see the new Superboy meet a young Clark Kent (esp. as Clark will not remember any of it, and thus not screw up whatever timeline we have at the moment). I think Chris Batista’s people are the most anorexic since Lee Moder’s, so maybe somebody should talk to him about that. Only one point really bugged me. This is the WORST-written Darkseid I’ve ever seen. Considering D&A’s abilities with characterization, this is inexplicable and inexcusable. Didn’t they read ANY of the original Jack Kirby stories???

Okay, I loved the art. The story was confusing, but they saved the universe and both Kon and Clark were heroes. Not crazy about Superboy in the Legion, but the story was a good read and I can't wait until the next 2 issues to wrap up the loose ends of Legion Lost.
PS: Either bring back the old Jan or at least give Garth the ability to manipulate the elements in his body so he can change back to human form at will. His present form is just too creepy for me.

That's . . . an unusual power, but not great enough for the Legion. Perhaps you should try the Legion of Substitute Heroes. They're a group of Legion rejects who have banded together and are doing fine work.
