This was an okay episode with some fun moments. Loved Chuck being into horror flicks...and Garth being afraid of a childhood toy! laugh

Saturn Girl being afraid of a rollercoaster seemed like too much of a cliche, but they hit Kal's fear spot on.

We get confirmation that Brainy is from Colu and they establish that Coluans are "not human" but all seem to be transformites like Brainy.

No Brin, Tinya or Luornu in this episdoe and no new members.

Thoughts?

One spoiler today comes from a promo shown immediately after the The Batman episode for what I guess is next week's Sm&LSH show.

Looks like Tyr will make an appearance! laugh

Not my favorite episode, but it wasn't all bad by any means.

THE GOOD:

Yeah, they employed every cliche in the book, but since it was done with a deliberate, over-the-top sense of camp, I can't fault them too much on that score. Personally, I can very much relate to Saturn Girl's fear of the mega-rollercoaster and Bouncing Boy's ancient monster movie perils were pretty dang funny. I liked the Martha cameo, too.

THE BAD:

"Dead" Brainy, again. Been there, done that. And if Superman and Brainy love each other so much, why don't they just get married?

THE UGLY:

Eyegore (He seemed to have a crush on Bouncing Boy. Can you blame him?)

Lightning Beast (Pretty cool, actually. Hope it turns up later).

And most TERRIFYING of all, Howdy the evil clown doll! Now we know the *perfect* birthday present for Garth. sob

Oh, and what about all those other sentients who'd been turned into "terror paintings"? Shouldn't have they been released at the end, too?

In the scene in Garth's bedroom, I wish they'd hinted at him having a sister.

Did anyone else feel like they were watching Scooby Doo?

I thought it was kinda cheesy, but it's a Legion cartoon. I won't complain.

Tromium, the other sentients were shown to be released too. There was a three eyed being amongst the Legionnaires and the shuttles were sent in to take everyone home.

Computo has been named in a previous episode.

There wasn't much as far as Easter Eggs, but I do like that there were some fun new things like LL's doll issue.

I started out with low expectations, but was won over by the end. Loved that the script was written with a nod to older viewers ("Last room on the left" indeed). And "Vampire Empire" has a nice ring to it, no? Too bad this show couldn't have been broadcast closer to Halloween. I also would have preferred having Triplicate Girl in this episode. There could have been a nice reference to Legion history by having Trip face the "death" of one (or two) of her bodies (assuming that's her greatest fear).

But where are the other Legionnaires??? Bring 'em on!

They did; there was a pink bed on the wall opposite to his. XD That counts as an Easter egg, doesn't it?

Oh Garth, I love you and your coulrophobia.

I felt like they all walked in the situation a little more willingly than I'd have liked, but I've never been a huge fan of horror movies to start with.

The emotional sentiment behind Superman making the choice at the end was a typical hero ultimatum, but I glad he didn't pull the usual, 'I'm going to save everyone' and succeed. If only the Dead Brainy hadn't been done before - it's starting to become stale. That's the problem with robots - you make some drama, and then they're all better with a backup disk and a new body. So yeah, a little predictable.

Coluans, though. Okay, I thought that kinda rocked. And I really enjoyed Brainy's hologram form, as inane as that might sound.

Also, who loved that picture of Baby Clark at the end? Adorable. Question is, where did he get it from? He didn't take anything with him when he went to the future.

Saw it. Will have it here soon.

Too bad there wasn't a Chameleon Boy appearance. I thought sure there would be.

Okay, thanks. My reception of the CW channel is so bad, I miss a lot of details.

Thanks (in advance) for the promo, Nightcrawler.

Way overused plot, but still pretty fun.

I was channeling my inner Bouncing Boy in the middle there: "Don't follow Whiskers! You know what happens when you follow the cat!!" smile

I wish more of the background aliens were familiar comic book universe races. There are so many just sitting there in back issues, it seems silly to spend time and money designing new ones. And that would give us older fans even more reason to watch and pay attention.

I thought next week's show was going to be a rerun, so I can't wait to see the preview.

Fair episode, with a stale plot and few surprises.

The Legionnaires' fears weren't even very creative. A doll ... a roller coaster ... horror movies ... yawn. At least Brainy's was unexpected and revealed much about the state of Colu in cartoonland. Superman's fear was old news, but an eerie foreshadow of what happens to him in the comics (e.g., his inability to save the Kents).

I kept waiting for there to be an explanation behind the name of the station (it was named after its founder, but more on that later, we were told), but nothing more was said about it. Did I miss something?

Bouncing Boy's fears were quite amusing, but the character seems on the verge of becoming only comedy relief.

It certainly would've been better if all of the fears had shown as much insight into the characters as Brainy and Supes did. Still, it was an episode that got better as it went along, so I ende up enjoying it quite a bit.

I for one thought it was really good. (after I stopped crying when Brainy "died") the whole episode I kept saying "Brainy's so cool!" when he was trying to get the others to conquer their fears. (sorry if it seems like I only watch for Brainy. I really like the show) And that thing with Lightning Lad's/Garth's room having Light Lass's bed was so cool. That means they're gonna bring her in sometime. It's so cool that they arn't ripping the comics to shreds to make the tv show like they do with books. *cough*HarryPotter*cough*

For me this was the kind of episode that made me go "Ha Ha ha!" to "Lightning Lad's afraid of a little CLOWN DOLL??" and toward the end "Hell Yeah!" Although it could have been scarier. And you're right,Copycat girl, Brainiac 5 kicks major ass.

Am I the only one who caught the Exorcist reference? Captain Howdy was Regan's imaginary friend in the original Excorcist.

Or it could have been referencing the Twisted Sister song: "Stay away, from Captain Howdy!"

Haven't watched it yet (heck, haven't watched last week's yet) but did the little alien guy with the eyes look like the animated Gomez Addams to anyone else?

Yeah, I definitely got that one. I did a report on subliminal images in high school and managed to pause the VCR on the scene of the 'Captain Howdy' face and kept it on screen during the report. Apparently it freaked people out, which was a fun bonus.

I thought of that too, but I seriously doubt it, in that case, 'cause that song was about a child molester, and I don't think the cartoon writers want to go there with Garth's childhood fears...

Being a Buffy fan, my first thought was, 'hey, Buffy was afraid of puppets, and Xander was afraid of clowns, maybe it's a Buffy shout-out?'

He did to me...and then there is another Addams Family reference when the staircase lifts up to reveal a passageway.
