Alright, on .REBELS cover #1, Tribulus looks almost exactly like Validus = brains. .REBELS cover #2, Trib has no brains and no clear cap and that's how he's pretty much looked ever since until the latest solicitation cover - R.E.B.E.L.S. #1 R.E.B.E.L.S. #2Both covers are by Andy Clarke.

It looks like brain-removal surgery was performed on Tribulus from issue 1 to issue 2. In the latest solict, it appears that brain-insertion was done. Am I close? Validus-type life-forms? I hope not.
So what.

Nice reference, Tanner! Actually, the first cover was pretty misleading. Tribulus NEVER looked like Validus in the actual stories, as I remember. Wildstar has always had a pinkish hue, not a gold one and she has energy wings. I don't remember ever seeing the Emerald Eye & child and Strata joined only for a very short time quite awhile after this issue. Covers are like that, sometimes.

I honestly cannot get into this latest series of R.E.B.E.L.S.! Try as I might (and I have bought the first 4 issues and the odd one here and there) I just can't get excited about the plotlines. Oh well, maybe one day I'l go back and kick myself, for now it has to remain a "non-issue" for me. The LSH and Adventure covers for April are outstanding! I too am happy to finally see Element Lad grace a cover this month. Hey, speaking of covers, is anyone still keeping a running total on how many covers each Legionnaire has appeared in so far? I think Brainy has been on almost every. Hmmm ... maybe I'll go back and count them.

It IS interesting. We usually don't see that perspective, the one used for Mekt and Jan.
I wonder what happened to Mekt's brother and the quest to find him?

My first reaction to that Legion cover was to look for Lightles signature.
I would have sworn it was his art.
Nice.

Legion of the Damned and Legion Lost (or whatever) - yuck! I hated those.
Thank God Levitz is back in control.

Nice. Excellent cover that certainly feels like an old Baxter from Lightle but look at the width of Saturn Queen's waist - no way did Lightle draw that!

Wow, if you think Saturn Queen is perfectly proportioned… that body structure is as unlikely as Sun Killer's perfectly spherical torso: round chest, no belly.
I also note the match-up of the villains & heroes. Timber-Wolf is being double-teamed, but aside from that, I think the villains are outmatched. Brainy's shield provides Daxamite-level-plus invulnerability, which reduces the confrontation with Sun Killer to a battle of wits.
As for Element Lad vs. Lightning Lord: the writers are probably not aware of the physical law which states that the total electrical charge of any object resides wholly on its surface: enclose Mekt in a thin layer of seamless copper, and he will be incapable of generating even the slightest electrical discharge. A hollow metallic- or even glass- sphere filled with oxygen would be a perfect prison for him.
Next time we have a DC/Marvel crossover, I want it to take place in the Hostessverse

Element Lad vs. *anyone* is a one-sided fight. He encases them in a hojillion tons of inerton if they aren't Krypto-Daxamite (or kryptonite or lead, if they are). And that's assuming that he remains a boy scout and doesn't violate the Legion code against killing by directly transmuting anyone he points at into a warm, wet cloud of expanding methane gas. He could vaporize Validus with a gesture, if he wasn't *too nice to do that sort of thing.* He's crazy powerful, and I love that about him. He's got just the one trick, unlike the super-peeps, but it's a really good trick. Or he could just turn whatever Mekt is using to fly (along with his costume) into a hunk of lead and let the poor guy plummet to his death. So many options for the dude who can point and turn any substance into any other substance.

Well, for a comic book female, I think she is. Her boobs aren't ginormous, she isn't super skinny and her legs are only a little elongated. The outfit belt and skirt sort of throw off the image, making her waist look long, but really, the waist is fairly normal. My height is in my torso where as my mom's was in her legs. 'Normal' has a broad range, depending on body types and combinations there of, age, weight and in SQ's instance, gravity while developing. Among other things that I haven't thought of. Lightle's girls, and I enjoy his work very much, tend to look like Barbies with lots of exaggerated parts. imo

Gotta' say: the writing and look of SQ is pretty much my favorite thing so far about this take on the Legion.

Odd that they'd reprint "Damned" and "Lost" but not "Widening Rifts" which bridges the two. I guess they were only concerned with the arcs that Coipel drew and not getting the whole story across.
Still "Lardy" to my friends!

Widening Rifts was pretty mechanical, IMHO and where it did do character work it was completely awful (eg. Thunder's chickening out). Then again, I'm not a fan of DnA on the whole anyway so your mileage may vary.

It's been a long time since I've read it but in my mind Widening Rifts is just a fairly non-descript storyline sandwiched in between two much better ones. It was OK, but nothing special. (I wonder if I would have rated it higher if Coipel had done the art though?)
A couple of cool things about that story that still stand out to me now though are -
1. one of the new villains ('Dune' I think his name is?) was made up of like sentient sand motes or something. I always thought that was pretty cool.
and
2. the ending had a really cool 70s disaster-movie vibe with all of the various characters (heroes and villains) rushing to get off the crumbling space station any way they could before it fell into the rift. And like any good disaster movie - some of the characters we liked just didn't make it off in time. (Though instead of dying, they all went on to star in Legion Lost.)

I'll agree that "Rifts" was inferior to the stories that came immediately before and after it, but I'd argue it's a pretty essential bridge between the two that needs to be read for the transition into Lost. And, IMO, "Rifts" was a pretty decent read in any case.
Still "Lardy" to my friends!
