Lot's of characters we haven't seen explored that deeply, lots of dynamic personalities, lots of interesting power sets. I could totally go for a 'Legions of One World' mini.

Spder-girl and Nightwind have counterparts in the reboot and the current DcU. Unless you're counting the reboot's reality as destroyed?

They were only Legionnaires in one continuity, so that was good enough for my uses.

I like you idea set much better! i have to agree that the ones with no counter parts are more interesting.

You came close to doing that sort of thing completely by coincidence, picking so many 'one world wonders' like Catspaw and Lume and Gates and Wave!

Yes, there are some similarities between you.
The trouble with only using 'Legionnaires', I guess, although I'm not quite sure of the actual distinction , is that there are no real nerds or jocks on that team, unless you're counting Gear and Rond.
But, Gear was mostly mechanical/weapons stuff and Rond was mostly Time Institute wise.
Neither of them were like a Brainy or a Lyle.

No muscle and few proven leaders.
Jasmine and Troy, might qualify, although Tyroc seems to be questionable if his LOST leadership is part of the resume.

Set's team would be great in the Silver Age, though.

Jeepers! Every time I see this thread I start singing Mama Cass!

Ooh. I like to play this game. As far as I'm concerned, the power duplication rule is pointless. The more powerful characters the better, they have to deal with crises on a cosmic scale so why not have plenty of powerful players? I've also always thought the Legion needed way more non-human characters. That said, I did not add Gates to this list because I just think he's a mess of a character. I'd like to see another character with his ability but the whole bird/insect/mammal thing seems, in evolutionary terms, problematic at best and really puts me off. I dunno, maybe I'm over-thinking him but How about some Krougarans, Xudarians, Thanagarians, Tamareans, etc.?

Sun Boy -his name really should be changed to Solar Boy . And why does he usually just shoot fire out of his hands? it should be photons, plasma and electromagnetic radiation sheesh!

Tyroc -I just kinda think it would be awesome if Marzal turns out to have been founded by descendants of Bob Marley's sizeable clan and they changed Tyroc's name to Wailer. No, really.

I also like the idea of some other sort of legacy characters that could tie the 31st century to the current era without the need for time traveling Superman/Boy/Girl. Unless it's the appearance of a 1,000 y/o Superman or Girl. Or Wonder Woman
I like the idea of a Shazam character, I thought Thunder was pretty weak but something along those lines could be interesting.

I like the idea of sub-teams, like the Subs / Wanderers / Academy / Espionage Squad / etc.

A diplomatic / public relations team and a deep space / cosmic team could be interesting as well.

A diplomatic/PR team would be VERY interesting. To that I'd add -

I do like the previous lists. I agree that having a member limit is silly - the Legion protects a whole galaxy (or for the Postboot Legion, two including the Kwai Galaxy), so why place a limit? Ditto on the no-duplication rule (thankfully, the Postboot Legion did away with that!)

I'm basing my list on the assumption that this Legion would be "real", as opposed to a list I'd make for a comic book cast.

It's easier for me to list Legionnaires I'd make sure to exclude and who are completely undeserving:

- Preboot Atmos
- Firefist
- 3boot Ultra Boy (Jo should be street smart, not an immature jerkass)
- SW6 Live Wire and Inferno (they add drama, but are way too immature to be heroes)
- Dev-em
- Postboot Kid Quantum I (but SW6 version is welcome)

Some more bit characters I'd like to see again as Legionnaires:

- Particon (Postboot), she was pretty impressive during the Mordru battle in Legionnaires 50. And I always felt the Postboot Legion needed more energy casters
- The teleporting Dominator girl from SW6

The ff. were robbed and should really be given chances to shine:

I prefer to reboot the United Planets into the 21st century and restart the Legion with a small team on earth similar to the cartoons. The United Planets could have many cell groups on 21st century earth with secret missions and just focus on 1 cell group initially who are disguised as maybe college students. For a reboot, I would just follow the cartoons with a small team initially : cosmic boy, lightning lad, saturn girl, chameleon boy, colossal boy, invisible kid, phantom girl and triplicate girl. Other cell groups can be guests later on. To go in different directions rather than doing adventure legion or archie legion all over again, for guests, I would use cell groups led by duplicate boy, polar boy, celebrand, jazmin cullen, karate kid, tyroc, etc.

I've never been to fond of the idea of the Legion in the 21st century. I love them being in the future.

I'm loving all of these ideas. the sub teams thing sounds wicked cool!

it be awesome if they really did do the rotating membership but to the extent that several planets housed different legion squads. that they were truly LEGION!

I like the Legion visiting the 21st century, I wouldn't want them to have originated here though, one of the things I love about the LSH is the future setting.

I do like the idea of different teams for different settings, though admittedly one of the other things I like about the LSH is seeing how different characters deal with threats that are seemingly out of their weight class...if the "cosmic forces Legion" was composed of say Mon-El, whichever other Kryptonite/Daxamites are on the team today and Wildfire that would make for some awesome splashy battles, but then we would miss out on things like Brainy defeating the Time Trapper solely with the force of his intellect.

i feel like the cosmic team should just be the whole team because you don't know what kind of power set/skills the team might need to face said cosmic threat.
