From CBR. Nice. I always loved the Imperial Guard cause they are based on the Legion. Though they've become a doormat over at Marvel. Anyways here is the link with some more preview pages link We are talking about it here .

I love the Imperial Guard too, naturally (well, AR naturally). So in Emperor Vulcan the Imperial Guard and the Starjammers appear? This, I'm gonna get! Thanks for the links Jorge. ![wink wink](/forums/images/graemlins/default_dark/wink.gif)

I just wanted to show off the pic but I couldn't link it from CBR. Starbolt (Wildfire) & Titan (Colossal Boy) look awesome!

What is the name of the character on the cover/splash page? And what are his powers? He looks very Mon-el-esque.
If the meek shall inherit inherit the Earth, then I at least want Baffin Island - and a property manager to work for me who is made of sterner stuff than I.

"Tasmia" is Nightshade or Nightside, depending on the source. She starred in the 3-issue Imperial Guard mini series in the 90s.

The Imperial Guard is such a blatant rip-off of the Legion, you wonder how much protection Trademarks really provide...
The good thing is you can see the cool looks Dave Cockrum created for many of the Guard are still holding up today. He was good.

Starbolt is actually the Guard's version of Sun Boy.
There is a Wildfire character named Impulse who dressed in purple and had a helmet/visor just like Drake.
He and Cyclops faced off against each other -- and I believe both were knocked on their respective butts.
X-Men 107 (debut of the Imperial Guard and Cockrum's last issue of his first run) is one of my all-time favorite comics.

Mine too. That double spread with the Imperial Guard's first appearance - by Cockrum of course - is still incredible.
Oh, it wasn't intended as a rip-off. It was more like a "wink" to the "guys on the other side". There've been many such instances over the years. I've read though that one reason why the Imperial Guard have always been "secondary characters" and they and their "world" haven't been fleshed out in a regular series of their own is the possibility of lawsuit.

Oh, it wasn't intended as a rip-off. It was more like a "wink" to the "guys on the other side". There've been many such instances over the years. One such example is the League of Super-Assassins, I believe, as an homage to the X-Men! I'm pretty sure there's a thread on that somewhere here.

Some Imperial Guard characters have been added over the years who don't correspond to any Legionnaire, while others, like Manta, were created for Dave Cockrum's Strangers or Outsiders. The League of Super-Assassins? I had never thought of them as an homage to the X-men before! Cool! ![laugh laugh](/forums/images/graemlins/default_dark/laugh.gif)

I always thought DC should get some All New All Different Heroes of Lallor based on Cockrum's All New All Different X-Men. Maybe some of his Outsiders? ![smile smile](/forums/images/graemlins/default_dark/smile.gif)
