Thanks to our very own matlock we have a sneak look at next week's TV Guide article featuring the Legion and their new look for season two.

I know I'm probably in the minority here but I like the new look for Garth. But then I've always been partial to beards and like him with the goatee.

I hope Chameleon Boy isn't just going to be "the stretchy guy." I wonder who else is getting a makeover?

I didn't really want to see a new direction when the show really only started hitting on all cylinders at toward the end of the season. But hey, at least we're getting a second season.

Well, we didn't really need those pesky girls, anyway.

Are these changes really necessary? Jeez! You've got a hit, stop re-interpreting the Legion already.

Why does everybody need to do their own spin?

It looks like they're going for a slightly older demographic. If that's what the producers believe will increase ratings, I'm okay with it except for the "Clone of Steel" part. Oh, brother. shake

I love Cham but please don't ditch Bouncie! sob

Hmmmm, I'm not sure about this "older" legion. Is the Legion going to be this way for the entire season? Why can't they keep the legionarres as teenagers? I'm afraid they're changing too much too soon. That, and I think they could have come up with a better "new" look for Timberwolf. And I agree with Tromium, they better not get rid of Bouncing Boy or any other of the main characters. frown

I like Garth's new costume. It holds a lot of the classic "Cockrum" look, but is still a bit unique!

Not sure about the whole clone and 41st Century stuff. We'll see I guess...

Double Balk!

This show only got good in the last half of the first season, and it was that the writers had finally gotten the great Legion characters and concepts *from the comics* in place at the end there that got me really excited about Season 2!

And then they go and change it all!

Imperiex?
Techno-Clone Superman?
Robo-Brainy still being emphasised?

puke

I do like Garth's redesign though. I wonder where Scooby is?

Behind clone-Superman and under Brainy.

While I don't think Superman looks quite right without a cape, Lightning Lad works out fairly well. And with the two shades of green for Chameleon... they'd finally come up with a color scheme for his costume that I like? Then again, it's hard to find colors that go well with orange, unless you're trying to do a flame-motif character SunBoy

^^^ I always liked the blue, white and orange colour scheme of Cham's original Adventure-era costume.

But there's already way too much blue on the team these days so I can live with him in green.

So, the toys will be based on the first season, but several of the looks will be different on the show when they actually come out. Isn't that potentially confusing, especially to kids who didn't see the first season?

I understand the need for change and growth, but there have only been 13 episodes so far. I think there was still plenty to establish before going off in a new direction.

This is like OYL in the comics, and seeing as how that was a huge creative failure in the books I buy (or have stopped buying or got canceled because of said failure), in my opinion, I'm quite leery about it for the cartoon.

Rebooted 'toon?!? Well at least they're keeping with Legion tradition...

Wait so are there gonna be 2 different Superman-boys? The one from the past and the clone one? Garth's new look is cool. Timberwolf's looks bleh.

Actually, to me, it makes sense. This way they can keep releasing newer figures of the same characters. Its how you make money in the toy biz.

I don't mind the show evolving, but do we really need that much of a change?

When it ain't broke, dont fix it.

I think they are trying for an older demographic, which is fine with me, but I HATE clones!

The Superboy litigation may be another contributing factor. DC is dumping/changing everything having to do with SB these days.

It looks like LL's lightning scar is gone. Plastic surgery or evil twin?

I think that just might be an animation mistake.

Anyway, I've been on some other forums, and quite a lot of the reactions have been surprisingly positive. This doesn't mean I'm still not skeptical on what effect these changes will have on the series, though.

More Season Two related news from today's "Lying in the Gutters"

CONTAINING MULTITUDES
Alex Serra and J Torres will be the regular team on the Johnny DC "Legion" book from issue #10. As the cartoon has been revamped for the second season for an older audience, the comic will follow. It's the Legion anniversary next year, and there's quite a lot riding on Legion as a franchise.
