Over on the Spaceopoly board, I'm hosting a game that pits different realities of Legionnaires against each other. It's not really advertised as a hunt to find everyone's favorites as, with the mechanics of the game, it's not a guarantee. Due to that, I've been thinking of a proper way to try and find out everyone's favorite version of each Legionnaire over the various realities. I decided that nothing beats the golden oldie - polling!
This one's a bit lengthy so thank you in advance for your participation! In this poll/survey, you'll find Legionnaires, villains, and support staff who have been prominent across multiple Legion realities. You're asked simply to vote for your favorite version of each character. Any character with 6 or more counterparts gets a second vote, just to get a better idea of how Legion World's likes are.
I'm sure I forgot some character or some reality somewhere along the lines. Apologies in advance, but I can't go back and edit.
To clarify some of my descriptions: "Preboot" would be the era of Legion history from 1958 all the way up to the close of the "Baxter Legion", Legion of Super-Heroes volume 3.
"Glorithverse" would be the TMK or Five Years Later days that started the fourth volume of the Legion.
"Postboot" is the Legion of Earth-247, the reboot team.
"Threeboot" is the Earth-Prime Waid and Kitson run from volume 5 of the Legion of Super-Heroes.
"Retroboot" encompasses the updated Preboot characters we're currently reading about. Everything from post-Infinite Crisis, Countdown, 3 Worlds, volume 6, and even the DCNu.
"Generations" is the Superman: Generations III mini-series which featured a small handful of Legionnaires.
"DC Animated Universe" includes the Legion's appearances in both the Superman and Justice League Unlimited cartoons.

I am confused with Threeboot and Retroboot - Threeboot - is that WaidnKitson era right? Retroboot - that is today right?

Yep, Threeboot is the Waid and Kitson run from 2004-2009. Retroboot would be the current stuff, the Post-Infinite Crisis era as well as the DCNu that just started.

Which is the Reboot (Jasmin, Shikari, etc.), Glorithverse or Postboot?
I kinda missed out on the stuff that happened between the death of Sarya in the 'Preboot' and the launch of the 'Threeboot,' so that entire chunk of Legion history is a bit fuzzy to me...

That would be one of the mistakes that I figured I'd make at some point creating the poll. Though I guess technically Tinya was in the Glorithverse for a hot minute in LSH v4 #61 before Zero Hour wiped it all away. The Time Trapper/Rokk brought her back from death so Jo could say farewell.

No problem! They're all great questions. I went ahead and included some descriptions in the first post to clarify what realities I was thinking of.

You could also argue the Phase was the Glorithverse Tinya (though later retconned not to be...).

Of course, nothing excuses you leaving the Superboy's Legion Ferro Lad.

but you actually left out some Legionnaires: Ayla Ranzz, Gates, Thunder, Monstress, Kinetix, XS, Magno, Devlin O'Ryan, Kent Shakespeare, Gear...
more particularly Ayla Ranzz...

That's why I noticed it! It would've been down to him or the SW6 version!

more particularly Ayla Ranzz... Most of those Legionnaires were left out due to not having counterparts or at least well-defined ones. Element Lad and Ayla though ... I have no idea what happened there. My apologies, everyone. That's kind of really embarrasing. All these omissions are kind of making me want to lock this poll up and make a different one.

Why not make a second poll to cover the missing Legionnaires, Future? This poll has generated lots of votes and discussion already, so even if a couple are missing, it has plenty of value

That's my plan right now, which works considering there's a lot of supporting cast and villains who are still applicable.

Hmmm... seems the majority favor the preboot versions. In the rare exception it is because that character didn't exist pre-boot or the character was used more in the other version.

I'm thinking specifically of Tenzil and the Subs and the way they were portrayed by Giffen and the Bierbaums.
First comic books ever bought: A DC four-for-47-cents grab bag that included Adventure #331. The rest is history.

With Triplicate Girl (abandoned after a certain point in the preboot, re-imagined with trijutsu and whatnot in a later version) and Invisible Lyle (dead, then re-imagined as a clever scientist and active member), that definitely seems to be the case. I'm not sure I would agree about the Subs and Giffen, since he turned them into something of a joke, known more for their incompetence and fumbling into success than they had been previously...
