At this point, I'm pretty tired of hearing about how awful Shady is. I'd rather hear something from Mon-El's POV and maybe it's him who ought to have a "damn good reason" for whatever happened.



I hear Levitz sometimes reads this board, so I'll say it as politely as possible: a lot of readers seem to be under the impression that somehow Mon-El "marked" Shady; that she isn't an autonomous human being. I'd still rather see her "doing the wrong thing" of her own volition, as it seems she has done. Better that than another creepy brainwashing or deception rationale for a character seeming to behave differently from what we'd expect.

The constant drumbeat from certain fans about how she's a "skank" or whatever simply because she's not joined at the hip to the same guy anymore is really starting to get me down.

I hope that's not the impression that Levitz is meaning to create of Shady, because-- damn! I'm starting to get depressed over the attitude of some of my brother/sister fans here!

^ I sympathise with your complaint cleome and think your post has the potential to get some interesting dialogue happening, but I'm not sure if this is the most appropriate thread for it. We're mainly talking about covers in here.

I think you might get more considered responses on that topic if you re-post it to one of the issue-specific threads that people are talking about Shady/Mon in?

Blacula, I was responding to jgallagher's comments above. I don't expect much in the way of exchanges on the subject at this point. We've already had them;I believe in more than one thread.



Everyone's entitled to their opinions, but I still find the number of times I've seen opinions like jg's at this point to be depressing. I just wanted to get that off my chest, that's all.

There is a tie so far, and the other one is only 2 votes behind...need a few more votes to finish this one up.

I'll take the first cover. Not just for nostalgia's sake, but because it makes best use of composition. The figures lead the eye around in a circle and it's a good mix-up of proportions and angles. Very effective.

Ugh. I hate that last one. The way the figure is distorted and crammed into the space just to make sure we get the mandatory and unnecessary eyeful of boobage is REALLY effing annoying!

First and second are both good. I'm sorry that the second one has the "RESIGNATION!" line at the bottom because it's intrusive and breaks the mood. But that happens a lot with covers, so I'll pick it anyway. The drawing is very nice.

Legionnaires #63- even if does feature the dreaded (by me) Sneckie.


#312 just isn't that good.

#41 was a disappointing "bait and switch". Not forgiven.

i like the #41 better...regardless of what the story was about.

Tough call between the first two. (I agree with cleome: the third one is awful.) I'll go with the first one for nostalgia reasons and because Sneckie is too distracting. (Look, kiddies! A snake!)
