How does one tattoo a Daxamite, anyway?

Odd how the fire had to be put out by Dream Girl. Why not use the opportunity to show us more of what Harmonia can do?

I am actually excited about this battle visually so far...I can't remember thinking that about a fight scene really in the entire last run of the series. Good sign! I also hope this preview is an indicator that Tinya is going to get to do something awesome.

Something else else's wacky here. All the links are showing up on my screen super-huge. [sulk]

Great issue. I thought the plot moved along quickly and there were a few nice character moments. The interaction between Polar Boy and Comet Queen was interesting... Although Shady being so distraught over Earth Man is a bit odd. I mean their relationship lasted all of what...a month? I'm going to guess that the other Legionaires would be a bit more upset with losing so many team members? I suppose we'll see more of that in future issues I'm really starting to like Portela's art and layouts. The action scenes on the first few pages were great. I also really liked Brainy's use of his flight ring and just floating around in a sitting position. He does need to start working a bit on on his facial features, some of the shots of are of Res-Vir are a bit weird, especially the top of page 7. I do like the flow of his layouts, with the fight between Mon-el and Res-Vir being the best section.
One question: Why is Star Boy stuck in a chair?

Ladies' man Polar Boy. Huh, that is a totally new aspect of the character. I don't mind, though - makes for some nice potential interaction with Dirk.
Nice to see Jan and Nura still taking quasi-leadership roles. After all, both were capable former Legion leaders.
Still not sure about Harmonia, though I am willing to give her a chance. Nice to see an Asian on the team...
Next issue: Shadow War? Interesting. Does that mean Tasmia will play a big role?
Brainy describes Jan as the only Legionnaire potentially capable of defeating a Daxamite. Well, with Imra and Tellus off the team, he's somewhat right. I think Glorith, Chemical Kid and perhaps Shrinking Violet could succeed too, though.

Chemical Kid should have been able to take him down the second he found out he was a Daxamite... slow down the action of the anti-lead serum, speed-up the action of the anti-lead serum, basicly just disrupt the heck out of the metabolization of the anti-lead serum. Ztake the fight right out of the guy.

Based on solicits for future issues though, it seems Chemical Kid will get the chance later on. That would be nice to see.

Interesting. His family name is Vir, like another Daxamite we know. I didn't read the preview, so maybe they covered that...?

Good catch, KK! But they didn't. I wonder if it'll come up later on.

Portela carries the book again for the second issue. The story is moving along, but no real magic yet. The exchange between Polar Boy and Comet Queen was fun. It would be interesting to see them become a couple. Portela's dynamic drawings of the fight scene between Mon-El and Res-Vir were the highlights of the issue for me.

I liked the panel where Mon-El is knocked back, and sort of slides back in a standing pose. A very cinematic shot, that you see in superhero cartoons all the time, that gives a real sense of energy to the fight.

I don`t know exactly why but this series has been flatlining for me. Anyone else feel the same? I`m enjoying Legion Lost more but wish Yera and Gates hadn`t departed so quickly. Perhaps the origin series will grab me next week.

I'm not particularly excited about it yet, but it's not bad. I'm enjoying Lost more too, and since I believe Gates and Yera will be back, I'll keep an eye on events there.

I'm actually much happier with these two issues than I was with the first two issues last time around. At least here we don't have GL's sucking 50% of the air out of the room every issue. Okay, ideally, one likes a series for what it IS, rather than for what it ISN'T. But I'm willing to stay tuned (as finances permit) and see more.

Shady's emotions have always been a little out of proportion to events, I think. But, I DO think that she's over doing it, even for her.
Jan, on the other hand, is not only trying to comfort her, which is in character for his gently empathic style imo, but he's touching/holding her, something he doesn't do very often, at all. I wonder what that might portend for the future? He might not be a 'warrior' like Kirk the Thug, but that wasn't in character for this Tasmia anyway. Her first crush was on Brainy, after all.
I DO wish that Lar and Jo used some fighting techniques, rather than just freeferalling it every time.
I hate Dominators, but maybe they'll be used to introduce Laurel Gand and maybe a Celeste. :hope:
A singin' and a dancin' along the way.

I like that the artist threw a Cylon raider into the ships in the background on page 18 (where Mon-El is taking off from the HQ).
Little details like that are cool.
