The lost-in-the-21st-century bit seems trite to me, but I'll endeavor to base my reactions on the stories themselves.

Well, if 'trite' means it's been done before, Legion Lost, it has; both as DnA's version and as the reboot earlier version when members were stranded in the 21st century, although Gates is the only repeat from that storyline. Some of them were amnesiac in the 21st century in the Action arc and another group were longterm Espionage Squad during MonEl's year or so in 21st century Earth.
But, I like the idea and am looking forward to the story.
As to who the girl in purple is, it might not be any of the 3 guessed so far. I think it might be Glorith. She's in purple in the #527 and her hair is redbrown this incarnation. So far, anyway. They're not showing the glowing face symbols but that would be easily explained.
Is the final Legionnaire Brin? Wow, doesn't look like him at all. He looks more like Gim. Which would make sense if that gal IS Yera.
Interesting!

Pretty sure that's Chameleon Girl. I see antennae and what looks like shape-shifting going on.
Still "Lardy" to my friends!

I'm excited and happy with the news! Legion Lost I think will just be the "other" Legion title. By that I mean I suspect it will last 12 to 20 issues and then we will get a new Legion title to replace it with a new situation/setting.
Is that Tyroc or Invisible Kid II? I looked at the cover quickly.
I've always been a Fabian fan. I'm always open minded with writers and don't compare their former work.
Good news about Paul still on the main title as well!!!

These covers also nail down that the flag-draped hand of the LSH casualty is not Timber Wolf or Ultra Boy, and isn't a fake-out involving Chameleons Boy or Girl.
Gosh, I really like these new costumes! What a difference a new design sensibility makes.

Seems to me like only half the lost team can't fit in. Brin and Tryoc look "normal" and Yera can shape-change easily enough. I imagine Tellus might have to throw the mental whammy on occassion to mask the rest.

Reboot, I hope you didn't interpret my comment as meaning that "a black guy" was fish out of watery in the 21C, or somehow an "alien misfit," because that's definitely NOT what I intended! I DO think to enhance it's "diversity," the current day DCnU is taking one of the more promising characters from the new Legion run (Tyroc), and I'm really sorry to see that. I'm not going to hold my breath, but one could write some interesting tales about a super-powered black guy from the future visiting various locales in the present-day, like the South Side of Chicago (where I reside), or Yazoo City, Mississippi, for example.
...but you don't have a moment where you're sitting there staring at a table full of twenty-five characters with little name signs that say, "Hi, my superpower is confusing you!"

Dan Didio: The good news on this is that we've had a lot of positive reactions to what's going on with Paul on Legion of Superheroes, and he's got a very distinctive style that is really something that plays to long-time Legion fans. I'm happy to say we're going to be continuing with a lot of the direction and tone he's set currently on the run. That's probably one of the books you'll see the least amount of change taking place, other than the subtraction of the characters in Legion Lost [/b] Given that we were looking down the barrel of a potential re-boot, all I can say about this quote (and these solicits) is... THANK Fragging GOD! YES, small sub-teams lost in "our" present now rival the Legion becoming babies from the Adventure era as "most over-used plot device", but the fact that we're keeping the current LSH (and Levitz!!) is *VERY* welcome news! Plus, we're getting a 2nd book(although one would assume it is of limited duration, almost by definition). And that's one snazzy-cool cover for LSH. Whoo-hoo! Still worried about who will die, though (please not Element Lad(!!)...). I guess we can obviously eliminate the characters seen in these solicits...

DC's PR person never got back to me despite saying they'd be happy to answer questions. And since he didn't correct you, I guess it's a pretty safe bet that's Yera, after all. Rats.

I honestly can't envision Ayla or Power Girl, for example, without bare legs. (Of course, I'd be in favor of an edict requiring male heroes to go bare legged. Bring back Cos's boy bustier and short-pants Robin!)

Dawnstar looks great. Nice lineup for Legion Lost. No complaints from me regarding Levitz staying on the main book.

Pretty happy overall with what is coming. Smaller teams means more character work is possible in both books.
Active LMB character is still Beast Boy.

Very excited about new Legionaires! It's been too long. And I do hope they don't all get killed, which seems to be what happened last time. And I've been thinkinG a lot about Jed and Lamprey (?) getting "dumped to the SPs. I do hope we see them again, as Subs, or sparring partners, or just friends to have a Kono with. Not everyone makes it to the major leagues, but people who "come up together" stay friends even when they are at different levels, and they can get together and talk shop.

I hope Paul promotes Jed, personally. Of all the Academy members thru the years, he's the one I think deserves a shot the most.
Yes, I know Paul seemingly put Jed and Lamprey as Legion prospects to bed in that Adventure issues, but it seemed that it was only Cos holding them back. His reasoning for Jed particularly seemed unreasonable and biased.
Still "Lardy" to my friends!

Looks like the Titans got the worst on the reboot this time instead of the Legion, thank the stars we didn't get a Liefeld Legion!
The only one Legion Lost needs is Val Armorr, then it will have my 4 all time favorite characters, I hope Fabian Nicieza treats them well.
I tried to rip their soul out.I tried to make them forget Superman. But they won't.

I know I'm in the minority here, but I really can't stand Wildfire, Dawnstar and Gates, so it looks like I'll be passing on Legion Lost.

and what s more --- I find it funny that Tyroc makes many appearances in one year than 1976 to 2009! (which included his appearances in TV Cartoon Legion!) since S/LSH #216...(and #218 marked Absorbancy Lad now Earth Man's first appearance....heh)

Yera's fine, and it means the the one I can't figure out for sure is likely to be Gim, which makes me happy because that means he's not dead.

You can blow up the picture a bit after clicking on it, which might make it more clear who is who.
It seems pretty clearly to be Yera (antennae and shapeshifting both arms), and the dude on the far right is definitely Timber Wolf.
There was a minor possibility that what I assumed to be Tyroc-with-hair (yay, hair!) was actually Invisible-Jacques-without-skunklock, but it's been confirmed to be Tyroc.
The only thing not completely clear to me from that picture is where all these dead people are suppposed to be. It can't be the past, because quite a few seem to be alien, which suggests that something happens that causes everybody in the future to die, and the Legion Lost crew has to go back in time and undo it.
The little dead (alien?) girl and her dolly in the bottom right hand corner is creepy.
I'm interested in seeing how the new art direction takes Tellus. Will he continue to have big legs, or will they return to being atrophied, with more of an aquatic build?
