Whoa, whoa, whoa! Don't rush things! The fun is getting there!
I don't want to see Ayla married until I see her actually fall in love!
I don't want anyone to have children until I see them reach a place in their lifetimes where they are prepared to be parents!
I'm not opposed to characters growing older and maturing, but I don't want to rush things. Look at the damage done to Spider-Man and Superman and the subsequent attempts by editors to fix things. It must be natural--and still, that might not work.
Aging the Legionnaires now at a rapid pace is a sure-fire way to ensure we'll just get another resetting of continuity somewhere down the line.
Absolutely Gim & Yera could have a baby...but no need to get into it now. Let the story bring itself there.

Babies typically bring a series to a quick halt in both stories and potential.
And the Legion has more marriages than any other series has ever had. Currently -
Duplicate Damsel & Bouncing Boy Lightning Lad & Saturn Girl Colossal Boy & Chameleon Girl Superman & Lois Lane + Sensor Girl is a widow
And the status of Mon-El & Shadow Lass is up-in-the-air.
More than enough for my tastes.

Not everybody has an overwhelming urge to get married.
I actually think the LSH has **too** many married couples.

Too true MLLASH. Already in our own time it is not improper for a couple to live together without getting married. I would see that trend continuing into the future.

Why don't we combine this thread with the 'homophobic' one and turn it into a gay marriage in the Legion debate?

Weren't Durlans hermaphrodites 5YL? That means we've already had a half-gay marriage, sort of.
I'm actually a bit annoyed that with Chameleon Girl on the team, there's no longer anyone who's married to a "civilian".

I'm trying to remember who's even dating a civilian on this team - Jan & Shvaughn... is that it? Super-heroes sure are a cliquey bunch.

What's this need to see all the Legionnaires married w/ children?? And why doesn't it "make sense" that some are single, or in a relationship but not married? I'm at a loss to understand the point of this thread!

I'm actually a bit annoyed that with Chameleon Girl on the team, there's no longer anyone who's married to a "civilian". I'd actually like to see her return to acting, now that the Legion is re-established. Make her a reservist, but have her gracefully bow out in deference to the "unique powers" clause in the Legion Constitution. As for the lack of marriages among the other couples, here's a list of reasons why they might be refraining from marriage: - One or both in a couple might not believe in marriage. This might be a personal conviction or a cultural value. 1000 years from now, who's to say marriage is the norm?
- They might be waiting til they're older. In modern history, there's a statistical correlation between the age of the couple when they marry and the probability of divorce. Couples who marry young are statistically more likely to divorce.
- The relationship is more casual in nature and not on the road to marriage (see for reference Sun Boy/Gigi Cusimano)
- The relationship could be on the rocks (see for reference Timber Wolf/Lighting Lass, who, last we saw them in Levitz's Legion were not a couple)
I'm sure there are plenty of other reasons the couples you mentioned aren't married. I'm also excited to see some shakeups in the romantic lives of the team. Nothing makes for great melodrama like a good, juicy romantic subplot.

These characters, though they've been around a long time, are currently portrayed as somewhere in their 20s. Even these days it's not unusual for people to delay marriage or seeking out relationships till well past that age. I'm 40 years old and have never been in a significant, long-term relationship, partly because I wanted to be secure in my career before I pursued such things and then I discovered I liked being alone. I realize that makes me the exception--and most of the Legionnaires have been portrayed as dating someone at some point--but still it doesn't require they all be coupled now.
As for children, many people choose to delay having children well into their forties. And there is precedent in the DCU for heroic couples having children late in life. In the current continuity, I think Carter and Shiera Hall were about 60 when Hector was born!
The only character in all of literature who has been described as "badnass" while using the phrase "vile miscreant."

It might be interesting to see if, twenty years from now, one of the Legion couples has not only had a child, but has started a big family, and had multiple children (and not just via the magical twins thing).
I'd vote for Chuck and Lu to have a big family, with like four or more kids (even before counting in any Carggite multiplication!).
If Dirk's reputation is anything more than made-up, he might have a few running around that he doesn't know about! (On the other hand, have we ever really seen Dirk date? I've heard him *described* as a ladies man, but, to be honest, I remember *Brainy* getting more action...)

In theory, Garth and Imra, no longer descended from Earth-humans, should be *at least* as incompatible as Gim and Yera. Same for a Rimborian and a Bgtzln, or a Terran and a Carggite, really. I'm gonna assume that 31st century assisted reproduction technology allows that sort of shenanigans. I'm not convinced that Yera needs Gim (or anyone, for that matter) at all, if she wants to make a child, actually. The idea of a shapeshifter somehow maintaining a pregnancy, despite turning into anything from a housefly to a potted plant to a fake ray-gun to a brontosaurus just seems dubious... She's probably parthenogenetic. She's probably not even a 'she...'

Hey, SCIENCE!!11 can do anything in the future.
If it turns into another denouement like the one poor Wanda got in Avengers, though, I'm headed back East with a baseball bat.
