While I like Shikari vastly better than Dawnstar, I'd rather see Dawnstar in this Legion. Her original super-tracking + spaceworthy flight powers have already grown over the years to include spatial awareness (her disorientation after Gates teleportation being the latest suggestion in that vein), 'great strength' and an 'invulnerable body,' making her like Superman-light, in that respect. Even if she is stepped back from being a junior Superman-clone, her acceleration should allow her to inflict gratuitious amounts of impact damage by releasing projectiles as she moves, like small javelins or throwing stones or something, since she can accelerate herself to superluminal velocities. A native-inspired costume that doesn't include fringes or boob windows would be a plus, 'though. The main reason I wouldn't want Shikari cherry-picked to join this team is that she is a cool character, and her interactions with *her* Legion are part of what makes her cool. Ripping her out of that group and forcing articial duplications of those interactions with this very different Legion would be very fake-feeling. I'm also not fond of the idea of pillaging the Threeboot and Reboot continuities for their best and brightest characters, since it suggests that the Threeboot and Reboot universes, once cherry-picked of their most compelling characters, will just be utterly abandoned. So long as cool characters like Shikari and Kid Quantum and Gazelle and Theena remain in their respective universes, there remains a small chance that some future writer will want to write stories set in those universes, if only for a chance to play with these fun characters. That being said, I'd love to see a "Legion of One World" story that involved a teamup between Legionnaires from the three worlds who had no duplicates in the other universes, like Shikari, Kid Quantum II, Chemical King, Tellus, Gates, Gear, Dragonmage, Reflex, Dream Boy, Computo II, etc.

Imagine how deadly she'd be with a bow and arrow...

The one issue I own that prominently features Shikari is great. Maybe because DNA/Coipel just felt really happy about getting to add one of their own to the mythos. Who knows? Maybe at some point they'd get invited back to revisit their own characters, even if it were just for a one-shot story somewhere.

I did enjoy Shikari's "Fair Legion, Dark Legion, Orange Legion . . . " monikers. If she joined this Legion, would they have to be "Old Fair Legion, Old Dark Legion, Old Orange Legion," etc?

Or "New Fair Legion", etc., since they'd be new to her? Maybe "Fair Legion 2"?

With 39 votes in, the voting is still close, with a few votes extra for Shikari being added to the current team. I am a little surprised on the divisiveness of the subject, but it kinda explains why the Legion has not been a top selling book in the last 2 decades - the Legion base seems to have different ideas on what it wants and doesn't want in a running Legion title.

Give us good art and good stories and the rest will take care of itself. We haven't had that consistently for any length of time in the last 2 decades. IMHO of course.

Thanks, Eryk. I honestly don't know why I stay loyal to DC sometimes (other than my obvious Legion addiction). I honestly think Marvel employs better artists and writers and as a result has a more well-rounded cast of characters. Why can't DC get a clue and shell out for better talent?

I voted no. She just seems to be a Dawnstar clone, and we've already got Dawnstar. Still, it's not like I'd be outraged or stop buying if they introduced her. Personally, I'd much rather see Monstress brought back. I am glad to see Gates, though.

It seems a lot of the artists prefer Marvel characters -- with the main exceptions being Superman and Batman. A lot of rookies at DC leave and go to Marvel when they get good -- because that's where they want to be. And when DC does manage to get some of the better artists from Marvel -- they get put on a Superman or Batman book.

The final results of the poll:
With 45 votes cast, it was pretty much a dead heat, but Shikari joining the current Legion received the single, deciding vote.
Very interesting results! Thank you, Legion Worlders, for participating!

It's too bad I didn't get to vote. I just started reading the reboot in the past few months (I had quit during the reboot, but I've collected just about all of it since then) and I've finally gotten to Shikari. My vote would be "no", which would prevent Shikari from winning. To anyone who doesn't like Dawnstar for being a cliched space native American: Shikari is just as bad. She's still a space Native American, just without the words "Native American" attached. The costume is better, but the solution to that is just to give Dawnstar a new costume.
