So when are we due for another election? While I'm not quite ready for Mon-El's term to be over, doesn't it seem we are due? I know so much craziness centered around Mon-El finally filling the spot, but it seems elections used to be held about once a year.
I'm not sure who I would vote for at this point, though.

Well, with the way stories now last 6 issues/months, I would say the elections should be every 2-3 years instead of every year.
That said, I think Chameleon Boy as leader would be interesting.

I'd like to see Vi get a shot.

You know, I almost suggested Vi would make a good leader in my first post.
In the last election I voted for Tinya.
However, I think Dream Girl needs another shot at being leader.

I don't think there should be another election with fan voting. Look at how the last one turned out.

I like the idea of fans nominating the leader, it's pretty unique Having said that, I agree that once a year is too short a space of time nowadays with every individual storylike taking 5-6 months....I like the idea of doing it every 2 or 3 years though. At the moment, my choice would be Vi as well.

I'd like to see Tinya or Gim get a shot as leader, with someone as deputy that might be uncomfortable in the position. Gates or Blok, maybe? Mainly I want to see someone we think we know well in the top spot, but with unfamiliar stresses. Phatnom Girl seems to have a great relationship with everyone, but how would they -or she- react to her giving orders. She gives me the impression of being in charge of her romantic relationship without Jo realizing that he's not in charge. That dynamic would have to change if she sat in the big chair. With Colossal Boy it would be the opposite. He is a take-charge kinda guy who knows the command structure backward and forward. How would he deal with the personal issues that can dominate a team like this. How would he approach personalities like Brainy, Dreamy, Gates, Dragonfire, or former crush, Violet? Perhaps he'd have a new appreciation for his mother's leadership abilities. Gates has been very critical of various forms of authority without ever really having been tested himself. It would be nice to see him put up or shut up. Blok has been the ultimate follower, IMHO, and I can't see him giving orders. That's why I would enjoy Levitz showing me how he'd do it. Also, either Blok or Gates would be difficult, I think, for either Tinya or Gim to collaborate with, which would be great, as far as it goes. Just don't try to put Quislet or Comet Queen in the Dep role.

Heh. Put Comet Queen in charge and she'd probably try to order Chuck to return to active duty.

Considering the fact that my top choices are either Lost or not on active duty, I'm really not sure who I'd vote for at the moment.
It might be time to give Jacques a chance, though. And Thom might be interesting.

Shadow Lass would be interesting as well. As a planetary champion and a strong personality, how would she handle her passionate nature and emotions?

Lightning Lass! I'm tired of her being in her brother's shadow! I want her to take charge and kick some ass.

"Take charge" was pretty funny once I realized the pun was probably accidental.

Weren't the top 3 vote-getters in the last election Mon-el, Brainiac 5 and Cosmic Boy?
That should be reason enough right there to never bring back the Reader-Voted Elections.

That should be reason enough right there to never bring back the Reader-Voted Elections. Actually it was Mon-el, Brainiac 5 and EARTH-MAN. Well, with 6 LOST, 1 disappeared, 2 on leave or quit and 1 dead, the list of fan favorite possibilities has certainly shrunk. And, if the previews are to be believed, someone else is leaving, too. Of those remaining and not including the recent Academy recruits since they're way to inexperienced imo, my 4 favorites, Jan/Cham/Vi/Jacques are all in the very bottom of the pack. Not good. I agree that the voting shouldn't be for at least a couple of years, possibly a 5 year span would be best.
A singin' and a dancin' along the way.

I really like the idea that each term = 1 year in the Legion's time, but that's hard to translate into how long that equates to in real world time.
I've also always thought new members should be excluded from elections.

Mon-el - maybe quit? Brainiac 5 - will be kidnapped by Dominator Earth-Man - Deceased Phantom Girl - current Gates - Lost Cosmic Boy - maybe quit? Dawnstar - Lost Shadow Lass - current Polar Boy - current Quislet - MIA - maybe captured by Dominator? or gone bad? Wildfire - Lost Timber Wolf - Lost Dream Girl - will be kidnapped by Dominator Sensor Girl - LOA Tyroc - Lost Lightning Lass - Current Ultra Boy - Current Sun Boy - Current Element Lad - Current Chameleon Boy - Current Shrinking Violet - Current Colossal Boy - resigned Tellus - Lost Invisible Kid - Current Chameleon Girl - Lost XS - MIA
New Kids on the Block: Chemical Kid, Dragonwing, Glorith, Comet Queen
If the legion lost were done with this election, Gates would be the Leader for the Lost, instead of Tyroc. interesting.
If Mon-El is the one who is actually leaving, instead of Cos, and who will be leading the Legion? with Mon and B-5 gone, the next one is....Phantom Girl?!? Hmmm....

As I recall, in-continuity, if the leader and deputy are both unable to serve, the post goes to the senior member, which would be Cos followed by Tinya.

Something else else I was thinking recently might be interesting would be if one of the Legion couples became leader and deputy leader. I think you could get some interesting stories out of it...would they work well together? Would there be tension? How would they handle disagreements?
Given the current state of the Legion though, that only gives us Nura/Thom, Ayla/Vi and Jo/Tinya as choices...and is Thom even an active member at the moment?

At this time, I would like either Phantom Girl or Chameleon Boy as leader and deputy leader, in either order. Lightning Lass and Violet would also be satisfying. The ones who need a big character boost and could use this as a takeoff would be Invisible Kid, Sun Boy, Colossal Boy and Star Boy.
In any case, I would like to see a veteran Legionnaire who has not yet been leader. Having Mon-El or Brainiac 5 or Cosmic Boy as leader is ho hum.
