He he, I only just realised that while we in the UK got JSA: Classified #2 last week it doesn't come out in the US until today.
I know there's a thread over at Dr Gymll's for this book but I thought chances are there would be needs for one to discuss the Legion appearance in #2.
s p o i l e r
s p a c e
Very much the WAK Legion, although with Andromeda appearing as she did preboot. Whether that means that Andromeda will indeed be part of the WAK Legion is hard to say. At the end it's hard to tell if this is the real Legion we're dealing with, a definate future of the DCU, a Hypertime version of the team or just a trick. Everyone that appears in the issue looks the way that they do in the current Legion title and there's no-one extra inculded (apart from teh Andromeda reference of course) but it's not quite clear what PP is actually doing or more specifically how he's doing what he's doing).
I have to say as well I do like the look of the Legion as drawn by Amanda Conner. Much more cartoony than Barry's rendition of them (or Leonard's) but still... I dunno, there's soemthing that looks right with them even with the very different styles. Amanda could do a fill in on Legion and I don't think it would jar too much. Cham is very cute and Micro Lad is very sexy. I also particularly like her Shady.
A very nice issue, but whether it'll have any bearing on the Legion or whether they'll turn up again is a completely other matter.

"Cham is very cute" Eh. He's the new Proty it seems. I like my Cham dangerous not cute. Question about the issue. PG referred to the "real" Legion...aka the Zero Boot Legion right? Called Lightning Lad Livewire? thanks

She did indeed make a comment about Lightning Lad being called Live Wire. The implication being of course that while the current WAK version of the Legion is the current version of the Legion, the old version (at least the post Zero Hour, preboot version) does, or at least did, exist within the current DCU as well. Or if it doesn't then Karen for some reason remembers them from some previous meeting.
I suppose it's a problem that they're going to have with the new version of the Legion somewhere down the line. If there had never been a meeting between the Legion and the DCU then all would be fine, but there was the whole Team 20 stuff and Impulse/Kid Flash and suchlike which will cause problems. If the current Legion is a Hypertime version fo the Legion and the previous Legion are also a possible future then that should be OK, but Karen's confusion makes perfect sense really.
Of course the other question is are the Legionnaires we see in this issue real and do they really think that PG is their Andromeda? It doesn't mean that they are exactly the WAK Legion, just that they are very similar. Maybe in their time line Andromeda did go back in time only it wasn't into the timeline that we're seeing in the current DCU. In which case we then get a third version of the Legion that has visited the DCU present. The fact that only Karen sees them I guess implies that maybe they're not real, but I just thoguht that at the end of the issue the way PP was talking about them not ending or something (I'm at work so don't have the issue to hand to refer to) implies that they are real and are really a Legion.

Wait a sec, Power Girl could have been remembering the Legion from when the JLA/JSA and Legion fought Mordru in JUSTICE LEAGUE 147-148, recognised Live Wire and mistakenly called him Lightning Lad...

PG meet Emerald Dragon and SW6 Cos, SG and Livewire during Zero Hour, so her coment about a real legion makes sense. I don´t believe that the legionnaires of JSA C are real. I think the point in the first 3 issues is to confuse readers giving all the possible origens (she´s kriptonian, she´s atlantean, she´s daxamite). It won´t be a sorprise if next issue the Crime Syndicate tell her that she´s the antimatter universe doble of Supergirl. And in issue #4 the big revelation: Powergirl is...

There's definitely nothing real about this Legion. Did anyone notice in the flashback panel of PG getting into the ship the Legionnaires had their reboot type costumes on? "L" buckles and ammunition pouches on the belts. So no continuity problems.
Interesting you mention what Pirate says at the end. It sounds like he may actually be talking about the end of the reboot, and the start of WaK. So if infinite crisis causes the current Legion reboot he's just given a clue. It seems that PP just may have the knowledge of Grant Morrison and Geoff Johns.

Keep in mind that at the end of CoIE Psycho Pirate was the only person who remembered everything. Presumably, even after Zero Hour, he still does. He might, somehow, have memories of every incarnation of the Legion.
I don't recall him ever previously having the power to manifest doppelgangers like he does here, but there's no doubt in my mind that the team depicted in this issue is not the real Legion, but are constructs of some kind created by PP. When he says they won't "end" I think he's implying that they're some kind of blank slate that he can use to create his ghola.

He didn't have these powers pre-crisis.
His ability to create alternate version of fictional DC characters was shown in his apearance in Morrison's Animal Man. I initally dismissed that appearance because Buddy Baker met Grant Morrison two issues later as a result of actions of that story. So when GM sent Buddy back i assumed most of Morrison's run was a dream or something. But now I'm wondering if PP met GM too only he remembers unlike Buddy.
Also the solicit for IC 2 mentions Buddy so I can't dismiss it as coincidence. My new theory is that the fictional Morrison's head explodes in an aneurism leading to infinite crisis, when all his characters remember.

Can someone please explain Pyscho Pirates powers to me?
I only met him in the original crisis and from that had thought that he had "simple" emotion controling powers. I seem to remember the anti monitor saying he could have used Phobia to control the planets populations.
So where did this power of picking out versions of the DCU heroes come from? Whats he doing pulling them out of his Ass?

It's not his power per se, its the mask and what he knows. The post-crisis Medusa Mask is a gateway between realities. Pirate remembers the pre-crisis universe and the fact he's a fictional character living to suffer for our entertainment. When he has the mask, the pre-crisis reality in his memory can come through it.
I guess Geoff Johns has decided to use this GM stuff. There was a page 22 edited out of an issue of JSA where Per Degaton says after saying "I live to watch the JSA suffer", he looks out of the panel at the reader and says "Just like You".

The fictional Morrison is already dead. He was brought in as a member of the Suicide Squad and killed during Ostrander's run. His codename was "The Writer".

I think the notion that Power Girl is Andromeda is a clever one, even if it's only another ruse. There are certainly enough similarities, especially their aggressive attitudes and physical endowments (which, even for comic book heroines we know are exceptional cuz it's been written that way).
I liked how the Legion was depicted here. The art in general has been exceptional - just on eht edge of cartoony, but able to carry the weight of the lead character's emotional crisis. She's sexy, but not ridiculously so, tough but vulnerable. Superman looks a bit old-fashioned here, but considering his role here was to be comforting and brotherly, it worked.
The Jimmy Olsen stuff was cute, but I can't imagine why Psycho Pirate felt a need to include him in the little drama.

Amanda Conner rules! I loved all the tidbits - what's up with the Karate Kid reference about time traveling? I like the 'Big Boy' line too. Is there destined to be a lil'something somthing between Micro Lad and the real Andromeda?

I caught the KK line also, MEL. I took it as a reference to the pre-crisis Val who spent a great deal of time in the 20th century. Since these "Legionnaires" are manifestations of PP and he seems to remember all 'boots, this makes sense though it wouldn't make any sense to someone from the post-crisis continuity.
Could PP's backstage cohort from last issue be the Time Trapper? or even Glorith? And is that the reason Power Girl is the crux of the upcoming Crisis? She's a creation of theirs to thwart Mordru from gaining supremacy in the future.

I picked up on that too, Vee. This is turning out to be a great ride. And if that was the case, then it goes to follow that Jimmy's appearance is in keeping with the original Legion. He was a member at one time, correct? Jamie

I took that comment about KK's time travels to be a bit of a slight to the quality of the stories in KK series (from the 70's). Not that I can disagree... they might have wanted to mention the Timberwolf series while they were at it.
Otherwise... I'm a little more into what the Legion is doing in JSA Classified right now, than I am in the ongoing Legion... although the last issue of Legion almost got me revved up again. It's just kinda left me flat.
