this ones for DEANLEGION !!! he loves HAIR topics .... i'm having a BAD hair day !!! the style i have on my AVATAR is from a couple of years back !!! and since i had it cut shorter, i've always tried to grow it again [ just to see if i liked it like that anymore ?? ] so at the moment it's the LONGEST it's been in years !! but it looks SO messy !! i'm finding it VERY hard not to just have it cut off again !! but because i've almost gone past that 'difficult' stage !! i'm trying to hang in there !! knowing me, when it does get to the length i want, i probably won't like it !! but that's the thing with HAIR !! you just can't try on a different style .... you have to wait months for it to !! so anyway ..... how's your HAIR ??? Matthew.

Honestly, my hair is having problems. It's very thick, and when it gets long, it becomes nearly unmanageable. Add that to the gradually receding hairline, and you have a recipe for disaster. I'm seriously thinking about having it all buzzed off. I also rarely have the patience to make it look good. I'll have to give the matter some more thought.

Well Caroline likes the way my hair is now, which is thick and long, just about down to my butt. I started growing it out almost 7 years ago when I quit working in banking.
I also quit shaving 2 years ago when I decided my place of employment wouldn't say anything because they didn't want me to quit. I absolutely hate shaving. Of course, I come from Italian and French stock which means my beard doesn't touch my chin at all. Kinda looks Amish. But I don't care. One less thing to have to do to get ready for work in the morning.

Well, as always, my hair looks fabulous: long, thick, healthy, shiny and full of body. My brother, however, has been trying to keep his cut shorter lately. He gets hot very easily, and his naturally straight hair gets odd curls when he gets the tiniest bit hot and sweaty. Soooo, he keeps it short now that he works in an office. It actually looks better, but after having it a little longer for most of his life, it took some getting used to
Some people are like slinkys: not really good for anything, but they bring a smile to your face when you knock them down a flight of stairs

Personally, I recommend it. Mine is buzzed almost all off. Very short for the summer. I left some on the top with straight edges (as opposed to a fade) so it almost looks like a half-mohawk (it doesn't go down the back of my head). I've been buzzing it pretty short for years -- it dries really fast and I don't remember the last time I used a comb.

Okay, Matthew, I found this topic! Whew! Well.... I'm currently sporting my "regular" cut, short on the sides and the back, a *bit* longer on top, combed back. I do have a receded (yes, receded, not really receding... because it's been the same for a long time) hairline, so my hair doesn't always look the way I wish it does. Anyone ever feel like calling Dr. Bosely to see whazzup there? Anyway, summer's great because I feel like I look better with a tan, and my normally dishwater looking hair gets that slight blonde tint to it. Reminds me of when I was a kid with platinum hair and brown skin....

My hair started to go grey when I was 22, now it's been totally grey for about 10 years. Product of a misspent youth I guess.
Now that I'm not working, I just let it go where it will. Usually shorter in summer for the heat, but t his year I'm letting it grow out - so I know what you mean, Ultra, about that! My husband cuts it when I do want it cut, so sometimes I wind up looking pretty punky.

Pretty short right now, but I haaaaate getting haircuts so in another month or two I'll be looking like one of the Fab Four again. I went two years between haircuts at one point. It was a great two years, I'll tell you that. I've been informed by my wife I can grow it out again when I'm fifty, but I think she's just betting I won't want to.
My hairline's still good, but the grayness is ever increasing.

Don't laugh, but I'm sporting the barest beginnings of a mullet. On purpose. But it doesn't look crappy, I swear! It's longish on top and getting even MORE longish in back and beginning to curl up. I'm sure next haircut will be a flat-top though.
As far as grey hair goes, I don't play that. Whenever I spot one I yank that beeyotch out!

Lashie, don't you know they say that for every one you pull out, two grow in?
I'm not to sure about the science behind that, but I'm not taking any chances.

I like my hair longer in the summer so I can pull it back.
And I found my first two white hairs the day after the old boards went down. I blame you, DC!

"Justice" from the New Universe had white hair *and* a mullet and I thought it was badass. Longshot had a mullet and he was a prettyboy. Brainy had a mullet during TMK and he has twelfth level intelligence!

Grey hair on men is distinguished! That's a pretty commonly-held opinion - it's the women who are supposed to dump chemicals on their heads to look good.
I used to fret about it until I encountered two women: one fairly young (mid-30s) with totally grey hair and a magnificent beauty, as much from her bearing as her looks; the second, only through her writings and a film, the then 90-year old Ruth Stout, a very funny lady with lots and lots of wrinkles, totally white hair, flying all over the place (the hair, not Ruth), and a fantastic attitude towards life, including total disregard for TPTB. So I never got around to a dye-job, thanks to these two women.
It ain't the color of your hair that counts, which we all know in theory....
