AP reports that Fox is considering Americanizing BBC soap EastEnders.

I don't get this at all. I don't see a cry to make an American EastEnders. From my experiences with the show, what made it distinct was the style -- the short scenes, the outdoor set, the more realistic and complicated storytelling (by American soap opera standards). It seems an odd choice to remake something where the differential points are something that Network execs are likely to iron out anyway.
