I'm gonna try to get some scalpers' tickets to Duran Duran on Tuesday when they come to Toronto. I'm expecting to have a great time, but am just wondering: have any of you out there seen them yet on their North America tour, and if so, how were they? confused

All I know for sure is that I'd damned well better be able to score some tickets or my friends are gonna kill me, since we could have gotten some mediocre tickets on-line, but for my insistence that we hold out for some better ones. smile

I can just hear the girls in the group saying, "Now we're missing Nick and Simon because of you!" And then shouting even louder so as to be heard from outside the arena: "We love you, Duran Duran, LOVE YOU!" drool wink

Haven't seen them yet, and I don't think I've seen any advertising for the tour, either.

Hope you can get good tickets, for your own sake. smile

I've seen them on TV a few times, and they sounded pretty good. The new material wasn't horrible or anything... some was pretty good from the few I've heard.

Well, I finally saw Duran Duran earlier this evening and I hate to say it, but the experience wasn't all that it should have been--not that this was the band's fault, mind you.

The problem was that the seats I got were really, really bad. In fact, they were roof level, which I didn't even know existed before tonight. Because of this, the sound was terribly distorted; sometimes we couldn't even be sure of what song the band was playing.

Having said this, however, it was nice to finally see Duran Duran play live (literally). The energy was great and they played all of the old hits I'd hoped for. Indeed, I 'm certain that fans in the lower levels enjoyed a really fine show.

Consequently, my brother and I might even go to their next gig (I'm not sure where it is, yet) and simply buy scalpers' tickets so that we can hear the show as well as see it. If we do, I'll be sure to post a proper (and, hopefully, more positive) review.

Cheers!

Sorry it wasn't the experience you were hoping for, MB. Hope you have better luck next time if you go.

FYI, I've heard that if you wait until a day or three before the show, Ticketmaster releases tickets it had set aside for special people/reasons that had not been used. That way you can get better seats at the last minute sometimes. I've known three diferent people who have done it, and have been very pleased by the results. Worth a try if you're feeling lucky....

I just can't BLOK it out!

Thanks for the tip, thor2168; I'll keep it in mind the next time a big act is in town.

The other alternative is to simply buy tickets from scalpers, of course. I did this for Prince a few months ago and got fantastic seats for only $10 over list price. I only wish now that I'd bought my Duran Duran tickets from scalpers this time.
