Wouldn't it be curious if they found something? I wonder what sort of life they're looking for. There's so many speculations about Mars, if it ever supported life - or life as we know it - or if it could. As our sun turns into a red giant, and earth dies, maybe life will erupt on Mars...if we haven't planted it there first. Has anyone read or heard about that "Face on Mars" idea? Popular among the UFO set - they say there's visual evidence of pyramids there, too - all kept hidden by NASA. Who knows? I love a good conspiracy, but that one is a bit far-fetched for my tastes. Still, nice to imagine that stories such as The Martian Chronicles could be true - what a sad book that was. Holy Cats of Egypt!

What a difference a couple of decades worth of technological advances makes. The first image on the left is the best enhanced version of the Viking images. The other two are images taken by the Mars Orbiter Camera (MOC) on the Mars Global Surveyor (MGS) spacecraft in 1998.
