Ugh, that stupid woman doesn't look like she's ever eaten for pleasure in her whole life. Sure, eat healthily but eat for pleasure too. Every time I see her sour, shrunken lemon mug bitching at some poor person I teh TV I want to heave a brick at her. It's not even as if her 'diets' are actually any good. She's got a fake doctorate, the BMC pretty much condemned her and she always comes across as one of the most unpleasant, humourless, sour old wenches I have ever seen in my life. The sooner her little fame bubble bursts the better in my eyes.

rtvu2 - Sorry, I haven't worked out how to link to other threads, but if you see 'Rowies - make your own' thread within The Anywhere Machine it gives you a recipe on how to make them.

In essence they are a croissant-esque bready 'snack' to be eaten with butter / jam (jelly) / peanut butter / cheese / crisps (potato chips) etc. etc.

Not nearly as light and fluffy as a croissant though.

Flat, roughly the size of a CD, but about half an inch thick. No standars shape - but roundish, with one flat face.
Primary ingredients flour, lard and salt.

Part of the staple diet here in the North east of Scotland.

Ludicrously unhealthy, due to the amount of salt and lard, but absolutely delicious. Fabulous cold, but best eaten slightly toasted - the lard makes them burn easily, to caution is required.

Should be eaten in moderation - but then you get fat, unhealthy bastards all over. If it ain't rowies it's McDonalds etc. etc.

The best place to buy them is anywhere between Stonehaven & Peterhead, therefore the recipe has been included for all who are not lucky enough to live in this area.

Well, I'm a big fan of Adzuki Bean Stew, but I'd probably like a rowie from time to time, too. She sounds like a real media hound, though - going for the shock story. Why wage war on rowies, except for publicity? It's not like people don't know excessive fat and salt aren't healthy.

So are there rowies made with organic, stone-ground whole wheat flour?
