We've lost another of the Mercury 7...

Those men are true American heroes to me and always will be.

"... And for a brief moment, Gordo Cooper became the greatest pilot anyone had ever seen."
-- Levon Helm's narration at the end of "The Right Stuff," on Cooper's (Dennis Quaid) Mercury flight

"Have a good ride, buddy. Go!"
-- John Glenn (Ed Harris), immediately before the above

Great movie. I gotta go watch it again.

Active LMB character is still Beast Boy.

"Go Hot Dog, Go!" Gus Grissom (Fred Ward), from the same sequence.

The Right Stuff has been in my top five ever since I first saw it in the theater lo those twenty years ago. It placed the Mercury Seven firmly in the ranks of my personal heroes.

I can't say that I'll "miss" Gordo Cooper, having never met the man, but I will say that the world could do worse than find a few more men with his kind of courage.

If you liked the movie, the book is damn near as good.

The only consistent feature of all of your dissatisfying relationships is you.
