I went and saw the movie.. I liked it for the entertainment value. It killed a few hours of not having anything better to do.
A few movies came to mind as I was watching this.
1. Top Gun ( of course)
2. Behind Enemy Lines
3. Short Circut

Has Hollywood really run out of ideas?

It was a good movie on the big screen..effect wise. But I feel it could have been better.

Looking for Earth Prime.

Yeah. It wasn't what I expected, which was kinda nice, but it was sorta predictable. I too was reminded of those movies, and I-Robot, which had the whole don't trust tech thang too, and Deep Blue Sea for... well, one part around the middle that made me frown .

Overall, it was fun to watch but I wouldn't see it again.

It's funny you asked that... I just had a conversation with a co-worker about how Hollywood seems to have run out of ideas.

Look at the movie offerings for this summer... there's a lot of franchise movies (Batman Begins, Revenge of the Sith, and the like), remakes (War of the Worlds, Willie Wonka), and TV adaptations (Bewitched, Dukes of Hazzard). And I'd hardly call Fantastic Four an original idea at this point too.

When I saw the trailer for Stealth... I groaned out loud. I have no inkling to see it. None. Maybe I'm too picky in my old age, but it just seems like that Artificial Life thing gaining self awareness has been done over and over again.

I've just had very little interest in recent movie releases... and I used to enjoy going to the theater alot. Sigh.
