A.K.A. Larry "Bud" Melman from the old "Late Night With David Letterman" and who appeared under his given name when he followed Letterman to CBS.

When I was in high school Late Night really set the tone for my groups sense of humor, and Larry "Bud" Melman was a vital part of it. His bits were so random and odd. This is sadder than I'd expect really.

too bad, but he was no youngster. a full life is not something to mourn, IMHO.

My favorite memory of him was when I was at Woodstock '94. It was the first night, and there were a lot of rumors about special surprise guests turnnig up. Late in the evening, I was in my tent relaxing, when all of a sudden the announcer introduces... Mick Jagger!

Everyone in their tents rushed out, and everyone hanging around BSing suddenly turned thier attention toward the main stage... and Calver deForest comes out.

"Is everybody tripping yet?" he asked. I forget what else he said.

Wow. No survivors.
