Sentient, when did knowing something about the topic become a requirement for posting?
i.e. "Squish the Fish" I am not entirely cognizent of the meaning contained in that phrase, but I was taught to repeat it endlessly on certain sundays during football season.

There is Canadian Football League, with I think a smaller field and some other quirks, like a different number of downs or some such thing. There was a football strike in the U.S. some years ago and the networks put on some CFL games but unfortunately they were real stinkers, I was told by people (guys, of course!) who know about these things - so they blew their chance to expand their audience.
Another interesting football tidbit from FC: the Montreal Alouettes were not doing very well when they played in the mammoth Olympic Stadium. They moved to a smaller field at McGill University and popularity increased. Maybe it was the quality of players as well - but there was some comment that people preferred the smaller stadium.
Look, I didn't even have to make anything up. Hook 'em horns.

Sentient, while I admire your knowledge and articulacy, I do believe that the canadian football field is larger not smaller. The games however can be excellent.

I enjoy watching football, mainly because of the thighs on view - yum yum!   and if nothing else you can have a laugh at the haircuts. A friend and I always give yellow and red cards to the really bad ones but somehow they're back running about the putch the next week disturbing the minds of our youth with their shocking lack of anything resembling real style, y'know what I mean? Is that the sort of thing we should be posting on this thread?
