Maybe some of you already know about this movie project, but it was news to me..... Apparently Hollywierd is in production now with the 2005 version of the Lucille Ball movie 'Yours, Mine and Ours.' The idea is sorta Brady Bunch, he is a widower (in this case with eight children) and she is a widow (in this case with ten children.) How these people would have time, and money, to date again and be insane enough to pick a partner with a herd of their own is beyond me, but that's Hollywierd for ya.... In this movie DENNIS QUAID will play the husband and RENEE RUSSO will play the wife.
Anyway, so the nurse that comes from the home health care place to tend my mother told us that her sister "showed photographs of her darling twin sons around the Park City Film Festival." I interpreted this as the bitch pimped out her children via head shots from Kiddie Kandids at the mall, and someone gave them a shot at fame...
These twin boys will be playing Quaids youngest children in the movie which is currently in production. The entire family was put under contract on behalf of the boys and moved to Los Angeles, to a condominium, for the duration of the filming and editing and promotion of the film.
Just found this tidbit of trivia interesting and wanted to share it. (Rereading what I wrote, I think I sound bitter, so I guess I am, oh well.)

Well, at least that family is getting a trip to El Lay out of it, along with expenses and some cash. (If you hear any anecdotes, do pass them along.) I'd be more annoyed, really, about the cause in which they were enlisted: a pointless remake of a mediocre comedy.
This was one of the obvious "we need a paycheck" efforts of Lucille Ball and Henry Fonda (who played the widower, a Navy officer). It was played for slapstick, occasionally effective -- with 18 kids, soon 19, the "ours," how could it not? But also for the cheaper brand of sentiment.
I wouldn't have known about it if not for having been forced to see it from the back seat of my dad's '66 Ford (which I now drive) when he hauled our family to the Plantation Drive-In on a hot Des Moines evening in 1969. I was 10, precocious, but still easily bored by an obvious formula movie, even at that tender age.
(I also was distinctly annoyed by the oldest son of the widower being stunned by his draft notice, and dutifully reporting to join the Navy. Even then, I hated the whole idea of conscription.)
I'd pay neither to see the original on DVD nor to see the estimable Quaid and Russo reworking a mis-aimed piece of comic material, and I hope nobody here will waste their money, either. Thanks to Caroline for the early warning.

I actually enjoyed the original. I got the dvd for Christmas last year. It wasn't Gone With The Wind, but it was entertaining. And based on a true story, I believe. It reminded me of my uncle's family, but they only had 14 children, I think.
I don't know if I'll go to the theater to see the remake, but I'll at least rent it.
Interesting trivia: Helen Beardsley, the author of the book and mother in the story, died on the same day as Lucille Ball, who played her in the movie.
Some people are like slinkys: not really good for anything, but they bring a smile to your face when you knock them down a flight of stairs

I saw the movie on tv durning college when I should have been in class. I liked the movie actually, it was good mindless entertainment. Sorta like Cheaper by the Dozen. I won't watch the movie in the theatre but I'll catch on cable or on demand.

I was a big fan of Lucille Ball when I was real young. I'm not sure why now, but I was. My Mom took me to see the movie when it came out-- and we actually sat thru it TWICE!
I always got the feeling THE BRADY BUNCH was a tv rip-off of it (so many tv series are, ahem-- "inspired" by hit movies), only with a more manageable cast size... heh heh.
