here I sse a great love for the legion and an attention and a memory for a lot of characters, and the legion is full of characters, famous and not! you have the same "love" for that secondary characters of dcu and of other universes ?
I adore - for example- Jill Stacy of Spiderman, Jamie Madrox, Icemaiden (Tora Olafdotter), Jericho...that are not so "on the blok" or known by all the readers!
BTW the mini of Madrox seems good

I'm probally an even bigger fan of Rom-Spaceknight than i am the Legion...and that includes all the one-shot appearances and cameos of other spaceknights and the various ID's the wraiths used over the course of the title as well.

There was a time when I was a huge fan of the X-Men. That was in the days before overexposure and extreme soap opera overcame those books. (For example, I hate Gambit and Rogue these days, particularly when they appear together.) Back in the day, my favorites were the X-Men, LSH, and New Teen Titans. I've lost interest in some of them but nothing else seems to have replaced them.

I always had a strange preference to the so called second characters! when I start reading X-men, they were the second team (the Storm one) so i start loving Beast and Iceman...when I read the Proteus saga I fell in love for Polaris and Madrox! One of my favourite heroines is the first Spiderwoman and I never read a comics of her! (now she is an avengers!!!)
in this way I hate Cyclops, and for a long time Jean Grey has been a hard character to me..too important, too "absolute"!
In Italy all the Titans are second characters, so I adore all of them, but with preferences for Jericho, Tula (I love Tula), Starfire, Tempest and others that I can "read" only buying original comics!! For the Legion is the same! (BTW...I prefer Ferro and SensorGirl, but they are so many...)

I loved Terminator (the poor guy) and the whole "The Day the Earth Stood Still" anti-communist paranoia in a small town motif. The Dire Wraiths were great villains (especially after their redesign with those toungues) and the spaceknights were great, noble sci-fi heroes. In terms of other secondary characters I have a fondness for: Abe Sapien Sunfire Beta Ray Bill The Question Captain Ultra

For strictly supporting characters, I LOVE these: Gwen Stacey Captain Stacey Joe Robertson Jonah Jameson Linda West Pete Ross Shvaughn Erin Baldur the Brave Sif the Warriors 3 Pepper Potts Happy Hogan Alfred Tulip and Cassady from Preacher John Wayne in Preacher (you have no idea how torn up I was in his final speech to Jesse ) Lucien, Marv, Matthew the Raven, Destruction and Delirium from Sandman For Heroes (Taken from another thread): -Spider-Man. My love and dedication to Spider-Man, Gwen, MJ, his classic villians, supporting cast and entire history is equal and probably even greater than my love for the Legion. -The Atom (Ray Palmer), Green Lantern (Hal Jordan) and Adam Strange. My Silver Age DC Heroes. -Firestorm (Ronnie Raymond), who has been a favorite since I first saw his cool costume when I was litt.e -Wally West, who may be my favorite DCU character. -Kitty Pride, my Marvel crush (funny how Tinya, the other phasing hero, is my DC one!) -Nightcrawler and Colossus- along with Kitty, my favorite X-Men. -Hank Pym and the Wasp- huge faves of mine that I believe should live happily ever after together, after all the terrible things they've done have been retconned away. -The Black Knight (Dane Whitman) -Crystal of the Inhumans These are all characters that I can never get enough of and remain dedicated to through good times and bad!

It was plotted and drawn by Chip Batista and scripted by "Cosmic" Jim Starlin. While they couldn't use the name or character Rom, they did use all the classic Spaceknights and villains from the original series. Outstanding five-issue series.

I think you mean "Chris" Batista (unless Chip is a nickname). Yes, I picked it up and I liked the armor designs and the updating of the concept with the two brothers and Rom's neutralizer as Excalibur, but the story itself was kinda lacking. I also wished the other spaceknights were more fleshed out. Part of the problem was no doubt due to the fact that Starlin himself thought Rom was a silly character. He only took the job for the dough (so he could buy some parts for his boat I think).

I was thinking Chip WALLACE, who inked Chris on the first issue of SPACEKNIGHTS and his LEGION run... I wasn't aware Starlin didn't care for the Rom character-- I thought it was a licensing issue, Marvel not wanting (or able to afford?) to pay the company that made the toy for the use of the Rom name and likeness. But it seemed the project was Batista's baby, with him getting plotting credit also. Maybe Starlin did script it "for teh money", as you say, but I didn't find any of it "phoned in". I loved how they skirted that by making Tristan's armor an homage to his father's.

No, you're right about that. I wasn't trying to say that it was Starlin's fault that Rom or his likeness couldn't be used. But any time someone just hacks out a job, I can't but think it would've been better with someone who really cared. Then again I haven't really been into Starlin's Thanos stuff either since "Infinity Gauntlet"(and I assume he cared about those).
