Looks pretty good. Still wouldn't have gone with Downey as Stark, but the effects look really good.

Loved when he shot the tank and walked away as if it wasn't even worth his time.

Hopefully, we haven't seen the best part of the movie in the tv spot.

Damn you, you kids! Get off my lawn or I'm callin' tha cops!

I LOVE Robert Downey (and I don't mean that in a platonic way, at all smile ). I think he just might carry this movie.

As some of you may know there's going to be Iron Man toys (in the Kids Meals) at Burger King, starting soon (April 21st), here are some pics:

http://i.marvelousnews.com/g/index.php?mode=album&album=Burger_King%2FIron_Man%2F&dispsize=600&start=0

They look nice but I'm kind of disappointed it's yet another exclusive I'll miss out on. There are no 7-11, BK, or Targets up here. mad

This is, without a doubt, what a super-hero movie should be and will now be what all others have to measure up to. It will make you realize exactly what drek Superman Returns was.

Cobie, you have to sit through the entire credits, not just the initial end credits before the long list. Another five or so minutes but what happens makes it so worth it. Any one who skips out before the final reel unspools will kick themselves silly.

So, here's the question I have to ask these days:

Is the movie OK for a 5 (almost 6) year old boy, who enjoys comics, knows who Iron Man is, knows he's in the Avengers, and that's about it? This question isn't just about the violence, but is it too "adult" (e.g., with politics, business, romance, whatever) that a kid would be bored with long stretches of the movie?

...but you don't have a moment where you're sitting there staring at a table full of twenty-five characters with little name signs that say, "Hi, my superpower is confusing you!"

There was one "sex" scene that showed some female flesh, all the important parts covered. The torture scenes are probably the worst. Other than that it really wasn't too horrible. Plenty of sub-10 year olds in the audience we were in. Just depends on whether you may have you boy hide his eyes a time or two. But nothing he'd get bored at.

I just came back from seeing IM and wow I was imprssed. I have never been an IM fan but this was def one of the best super hero movies ever made. Robert Downey Jr I thought did a fantastic job.

My only complaint.....no physical appearance by the Mandarin, my all time favorite villain. At least he was in the "shadows" with his rings.

Amen to al of the above Brotha. My pals met Downey Jr last night in LA at an 11:30 show and he himself told them about the scene at the end. which is kinda funny cause the one time I met Sam Jackson I asked him if marvel'd ever let him play Fury...Guess I got my answer.

Overall for a non Ironman fan, this movie was veery very excellent. Very well done, Downey filled the role perfectly. Hell he actually kind of made me like ol' Shell head. I'll prolly go on about it more but..now i'm kinda outta it so..yeah.

I thought this movie totally rocked! I thought Tony and Pepper were great. I liked Favreau as hap Hogan. I wasn't all that wild about Rhodey (my favorite character from the comics) but I'm willing to let it play out. I liked Jeff Bridges as Obadiah Stane. My four-year-old liked it, too. we went to the drive-in to see it. He fell asleep before the final fight scene, but he made it almost all the way there. I loved the Tony's final line at the final press conference, but...

I left before the end of the comments. Could someone send me a private message and spoil me privately about what happened after the credits? I'm already kicking myself.

This is what happens after the end credits:
<span class="spoiler_containter"><span class="spoiler_wording">Click Here For A Spoiler</span><span class="spoiler_text">Tony comes home and Nick Fury is waiting for him. And it's Sam L Jackson! He tells Tony that he's stepped into a whole new universe or something then tells him about "The Avenger Initiative!!"</span></span>

Great friggin' movie!

Superman Returns doesn't hide the drek, it proudly and loudly proclaims its drek.

as for Iron Man, I really enjoyed this film. The manner in which things were updated(jarvis, his origin,) and the nods to Marvel universe.

good acting, good writing, and it didn't feel slow.

and the best part this is just the first of 10 films(might be lower) that Marvel will self finance. they stand to make a mint off of this.

this should probably be another thread, but someone tell me why doesn't Warner Brothers get it? the worst marvel film(Electra) was still better than Superman Returns. what gives?

Consider myself duly kicked! I felt that I should stay until the end of the credits, but my date seemed to want to leave. (Yes, I can blame her. That's the ticket.)

Loved the film! Loved it! Loved it! Loved it! Downey was perfect as Stark -- spoiled, brilliant, human, funny, endearing, selfish, caring, and an utter ego-maniac: His final announcement to the press was out of canon but so perfectly in character.

Paltrow was surprisingly effective as Pepper Potts. Given her celebrity and beauty, it was a hard sell at first to place her in the role of a long-suffering assistant whose boss doesn't notice her. I kept thinking of the character of Roxanne on "L.A. Law" (also a redhead!), but Paltrow is too stunning to play plain. Nevertheless, her chemistry with Downey worked. She talked back to her boss and asserted her own independence.

The movie's few downsides -- an obvious CGI costume and video-game-speed action scenes that made it occasionally difficult to keep up with what was happening (an all-too-common feature of modern action movies) -- were more than off-set by a taut story, witty dialogue, and humorous scenes. The latter were especially effective when Tony was testing out his suit. You could see what was coming, but that made it even funnier.

As is standard for Marvel films, there were a lot of in-jokes and homages to past comic book stories. Rhodey's scene with the gold Iron Man suit was wonderful, as was the sneaky way of including S.H.I.E.L.D.

The original 1963 origin was neatly transplanted from Vietnam to Afghanistan. I appreciated the fact that the filmmakers kept Prof. Yinsen's name, even though they changed his race and nationality. Incredibly, the origin fits in extremely well with our current military and political events (which, in a way, is sad, as it suggests little has changed in U.S. foreign policy since 1963).

Hopefully the Hulk movie turns out at least half as good...

what stood out for me was the part when Stane says something like, "The problem with Asia is you are always behind on technology." I instantly thought of Mandarin when I heard that line. he would be a could villain to bring back. and of course they could update him.

I liked the nod to the Mandarin with the "Ten Rings". The main terrorist guy had a big ol' ring. It'd be interesting if there were nine others around the world and the updated Mandarin being the head of the organization. The terrorist's reference to Genghis Kahn seemed out of place for his background, but maybe it's something he heard from the main man(darin)...

I loved almost everything about the movie, but my one suggestion for next time would be that they don't get too carried away with the CGI fight scenes. The scene of Iron Man in full daylight facing down terrorists was more exciting than the Iron Monger fight if simply for the fact that the pace was slow enough for us to get a good look at that glorious armor. And next time, the climactic fight should involve an Iron Man at 100% capacity.

I didn't get a dumb guy vibe from that character. in fact, he seemed to out of place from the rest of the crew. he seemed like the city guy and they were the country cousins. if anything, given the nods to the Mandarin, he seemed to be a capable lieutenant, if he is indeed working for someone else and doesn't turn out to be the big bad in the next film.

I don't mean to imply that the guy was dumb, just that referencing Genghis Kahn seemed more like something the Mandarin would do.
