Wow, that's a pretty big first concert. I think there might be a concert thread around here.

I saw the Brazil Girls last year at a party. they were great. I just missed the Killers a week ago. frown I plan to see Sting/Police this summer.

I've been to quite a few concerts...how come I can't remember them??? smile

Now this just makes me feel old. My first concert was Bow Wow Wow. I saw the Police in the Syncronicity 1984 Tour. I've seen Duran Duran, Supertramp, Erasure, and UB40. Come to think of it, at the end of this month I B 40!

In the last year I've seen Gary Numan (twice!) and the Who. That's the third time I've seen the Who as a group (I also saw Pete's '93 solo tour). I've seen NIN three times, David Bowie twice, the The three times, Poi Dog Pondering four times. I saw the first two Lollapalooza tours and saw the B-52's, the Sugarcubes, and Rage Against the Machine.

My first concert ever was Ziggy Marley. The lights went down and lighters started to flicker all around the hall. A couple of minutes later my friends and I (sheltered high schoolers all) asked each other "what's that funny smell?"

I'll be working every night of the Police's stay in LA, so I'll have to miss that, which sucks, big time.

Cranberries twice. 2nd time was a smaller more intimate venue. I enjoyed it.

My first concert was as a 11 year old? Def Leppard.

Quennsryche, Collective Soul, REM, B52s, Aerosmith, Pearl Jam, Nirvana, Alice in Chains, Green Day, Blind Melon, Lenny Kravitz, Beastie Boys, Crystal Method.

There are more I just can't remember them all. I missed Gipsy Kings(for a very good reason) in Feburary and I am still upset about it.

I really like music (especially live music) but I'm just not that into concerts for some reason.

I always feel like I should be having a better time than I am at them. I think it must be the big crowds that annoy me because all the artists I've seen have been wonderful and I never seem to have the problem at smaller, more intimate music settings.

Anyway here are the few I've seen -

R.E.M. (my first concert)
Portishead
Radiohead
Pulp
The Strokes
The Roots
Chris Isaak
Belle & Sebastian
The Shins
Red Jezebel

The Kinks (Twice - first time with John Cougar Mellencamp opening - he was terrible)
Van Halen (with Roth)
The Moody Blues (opening act - Stevie Ray Vaughn)
The Psychedelic Furs
Violent Femmes
Yes
Steve Winwood (twice)
The Fall (twice)
King Crimson (numerous times)
Adrian Belew (solo and with The Bears)
Tony Levin
Robert Fripp
Bill Bruford's Earthworks (thrice)
Robyn Hitchcock (solo and with The Soft Boys)
Peter Gabriel
Crowded House (also Neil Finn solo and with brother Tim)
Jah Wobble
Tori Amos
Laurie Anderson
The Church
Dr. John
Procol Harum
The Flower Kings (twice)
Porcupine Tree (twice)
Wire (twice)
Mission of Burma
Sonic Youth (with The Ex)
Luna
Blue Oyster Cult
Stereolab (four times)
Guided by Voices
David Sylvian

...and many, many others

Joeboy, I'm a DJ fan myself. smile I am getting a bit old for the techno scene now. wink I think George Acosta was the last DJ I saw...at 31 I felt old there. Everybody looked much younger. Well there were some people that looked really old and silly. I figured I fall into that group.

Coincedentally, that was my first concert, too--back in '89 ("Steel Wheels" tour)!

Alas, I haven't really seen that many bands in my time, just:

Guns n' Roses
Metallica
Faith No More
Living Colour
David Lee Roth
Cinderella
Extreme
Skid Row
KISS

That's only four concerts put together.

frown

I'd certainly make an effort, though, to see System of a Down in the future...if their current hiatus isn't permanent.

Saw Morrisey last night! It rocked! He didn't do any Smiths songs except How Soon Is Now (which is the best one!) but I was really hoping for This Charming Man.

It was fun. I feel old. smile
