Howdy, NFL fans!
Welocome to Lardy's NFL Pick'em Game!
This is my attempt to have a little fun with the NFL and to learn who is the Absolute Master of picking NFL winners!
Each week (thru the playoffs), I'll post The Matchups, and all you have to do is pick which team will win. You'll get a point for every correct pick and zero points for every incorrect pick. Note: we're not playing against point spreads, just wins--ties will result in zero points.
In addition, every week, there will be between three to five Upset Specials. You will choose one of the underdogs specified in these, and you'll be awarded three points if you're right (no points if wrong)! Note: upset specials will be determined by the largest point spreads available on betting lines, and none will be offered during the playoffs.
A Tie-Breaker will be a guess on total points in a game selected by me each week. This will determine the weekly winner if there are identical first-place points. If exact total isn't predicted, the closest prediction will win. If two predictions are equi-distant, the higher guess wins. No players may guess the same point total--if this happens the first to post gets his or her pick.
So we'll have weekly winners and a yearly winner. And if someone misses a week, it's okay--everyone's lowest week (regular season) will be dropped.
The prize: Bragging Rights! Fair enough?
Matchups will be posted each Wednesday or Thursday, and guesses will be accepted up until just before the first game kicks off. (When Thursday games begin, Matchups will be posted on Tuesdays.)
Sound cool?
Still "Lardy" to my friends!

I almost went with Oakland over Denver as the upset but I'm not sure I have that much faith. What's the spread? You know, just in case I wanted to gamble my wedding savings One that could easily screw me up? Houston.

Personally, I feel good to have gotten as many points as I did in what was such a wild, wacky week in the NFL from start to finish! I'm also pleased to have gotten the closest guess in the tie-breaker! I'm thinking about playing with the rules a little bit since none of the upset specials panned out...maybe bringing the spread into play with those in the future. May also introduce a "stone-cold" lock with the point spread. Would anyone mind if I played with that some? Many of you would've gotten credit (especially with the Raiders game!) if the spread came into play! Mind, the spread won't be involved in most picks, just the upset specials and the theoretical "stone-cold lock". Lemme know! If y'all are agreeable, I could institute this tweak as soon as this week!

Figures the Canadian would win the week. I'm fine with playing with the rules. Whatever you want, Lardy!

Yeah, this is just for fun, so feel free to tweak away if you think it'll make things more interesting.
