I know you hadn't read the novels during the first season, Labradorian. Have you since then?
I won't spoil anything, but I will say that the TV series and novels are now so different that one could discuss the events in one without necessarily spoiling the other. Still a risk of spoilerage, I suppose, since you never know when elements from the books will be adapted whole cloth for the series.
They're like parallel universes, really. No i havent read the books, and yes i would agree that the tv series and novels are different which is understandable. Spoiler Spoiler' Spoiler Spoiler Spoiler Spoiler Seeing Lafayette locked up in the dungeon was a sigh of relief for me, i like his character and to throw that away after the first season would have been a waste. I loved the dungeon scenes, eric ripping apart one of the captives which was a crazy scene. I wonder what the story with Daphne is, and what the hell was that thing that attacked sookie and apparantly at some point Daphne. I think the creature was Ensign Ro, cant remember her name at the moment

They let him live????????? Yay! I was really disappointed when he was killed in the books, and I was hoping they'd make a change for the show. Hopefully they won't cut out the "gay" Eric in lycra scene, though. Eric's so much fun in the books.
I haven't seen any of the tv series yet. Is it out on dvd? I just ordered the newest book from the SFBC.

Yes, the first season was recently released on DVD. The new season is a lot of fun. Eric is getting a bigger role.

If any True Blood fans are over on Twitter, they have a fansite where a group of very talented people, writers, are roleplaying a constant soap opera as characters from True Blood. Check out the goings-on of the whole gang, it's very well done. Yours truly plays one of the regular cast, and life is always exciting in Bon Temps. Our biggest honor so far, aside from hundreds of thousands of Twitter followers, is that HBO thinks we are doing such a good job that they recommend us on their website for the show!

Just a little bit of True Blood trivia, well I thought this was interesting... I have found two characters from True Blood on old episodes of Two and a Half Men. In the unaired pilot for Two and a Half Men, and in the pilot (after they'd changed the actress playing the mother,) the actress who plays Pam on True Blood, plays 'Laura' who is dating Charlie Harper (Charlie Sheen.) In a much later Two and a Half Men, the actress who plays Jane Bodehouse on True Blood, plays Jake's teacher while he reads an embarrassing essay to his class.

HUGE FAN.
We rented Season 1 shortly after its DVD release, and I fell in love. Pitched a hissy until we got HBO added to our cable, right before Season 2's premiere. Didn't take much though, as the bf loved it too.
Today's USA TODAY's front page includes a little tease about Sunday's 4th S2 episode, calling it the "true" start to season 2.
I've also decided to read all the books. It'll be at least a couple weeks before I start 'em though.

The books are good. I'm waiting for the newest one to come in the mail. Poor Sookie has a rather tangled love life, though.

But, tee hee-- wasn't Jason cute playing the god who comes?
Hoyt's dreamy-- I hope jessica, whom I also love, didn't kill his mom...
Sookie rules, as always, and I now officially like Tara's mom.

Agreed on all fronts. Jason playing the god was funny, sexy, and dramatic all at the same time. Jessica cracks me up.

Season two has come to an end. This was really over the top television. I was glued to the tube. Cliffhangers galore.

No pink and aqua lycra. Eric's best moments are when he gazes at the camera with those all too sexy eyes as blood drips from his lips, oozes from the sides of his mouth, and down his chin. That's mostly in the ads, though.

Too bad. At the end of the second book he wears the lycra and pretends he's gay at an orgie Sookie takes him to. (Not nearly as scandalous as that sounds.) It was hilarious.

I like the show, but there are sOOOOOO many ANNOYING characters... Maryanne was SO annoying... thank space THAT'S over with. I find the Vampire queen annoying (I prefer Jessica!!!)... Andy Bellefleur? ANNOYING. That muliple-times glamoured blonde chick that works at Fangtasia? Annoying but hilarious. Jason Stackhouse, however, is just precious.
