No, I'm not talking about the movie, silly. I'm talking about "Star Trek: Osiris," a new fan series launching this fall at www.stosiris.com . It's gonna be great, and I'm not just saying that because I have a small role in it. (Well, maybe a little.) This is what our ship looks like, if it were a frosted brownie. (I made it for our first cast read-through.) Please check us out!

One of my first experiences with Star Trek as a kid was the son (a few years older than I) of my parent's friends. He was old enough to watch AND remember the show in it's original run. And he made a home movie, with phasers, tricorders, communicators, scratched-on-film phaser blasts, the transporter room, etc. It couldn't have been more than a minute or two of film. But he was so proud, as were his parents (which even then I recognized as cool). There's something so special about the Star Trek world that it inspires fans, from the very beginning, to write stories, create films, create new parts of its universe. Good luck with Osiris.
...but you don't have a moment where you're sitting there staring at a table full of twenty-five characters with little name signs that say, "Hi, my superpower is confusing you!"

That's awesome Seymour! Good luck with it and hope you have as much luck as they did with Of Gods and Men!

Is this going to be live-action, or animated with the cast as voice talent?
One tiny nitpick. In the teaser trailer, 'truth' is spelled thruth. Ouchie.

Eeek!!! Thanks for pointing that out, Set. I'll try and get him to fix that right away. I can't believe I didn't catch it, and neither did any of my editor friends at work who've watched it. sheesh
To answer your other question, it will be live-action. I should get my costume next week. Yay! We're filming a two-part pilot this summer for upload in the fall, and if it gets good enough fan response, we'll film more episodes. The writers/producers have the first season mapped out.
We know "Hidden Frontiers" has gotten so popular, it had its own convention this year, so hopefully there will be enough fan support.

Well, I finally have an update! We're close to releasing the first episode, but for now I offer you the trailer. You can download it at www.stosiris.com or watch it on YouTube at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4XQ9rfVNs-4 . I'm not in the trailer, but I'm still geeked about the whole thing.

This looks really cool!
So, what can you tell us about your character, Lieutenant Commander Justin Ambrose (per the Web site)?
The only character in all of literature who has been described as "badnass" while using the phrase "vile miscreant."

I'm the captain's partner, and I'm a science officer on another ship based out of Deep Space 9. We've been together since Starfleet Academy. I'm also a bit cranky because I never get to see my bigwig hubby.

Good news on the "Star Trek: Osiris" front! First of all, I wrote an article about it for the Advocate, and it went online today. http://www.advocate.com/exclusive_detail_ektid79148.asp Secondly, the episode itself will be available for download starting at 9 p.m. EST on Saturday (the 18th). We may be streaming it, too, but I'm not sure. (Article says it's already available, but it went up a couple days early, and they haven't fixed it yet.) I haven't seen it yet, so I don't know if I'm any good, but I think it should be pretty awesome.
