What if Human League got Blondie pregnant? Their child would almost certainly sound like Gwen Stefani's new single WHAT YOU WAITING FOR.
Hints that Gwen was going to time warp back to the 80s were all over No Doubt's last album of all-new releases, ROCK STEADY. And their last single as a group was a cover of 80s classic IT'S MY LIFE. All the clues were there.
WHAT YOU WAITING FOR sounds like it could have been lifted off of the VALLEY GIRL soundtrack, standing beside classic tracks by the likes of Josie Cotton and The Psychedlic Furs.
The first time you hear it, you're all like, "What the HELL is THIS weird-ass crap?!?" And by the second listen, you're all, "That Gwen Stefani SPACE-RAWKS!! I love her!!"

i keep missing this song/video !!! always seem to switch the channel and just see the end of it !!!
although i did see ALL of the video yesterday [ but had friends round, and i didn't have the volume up !!! ]
from what i saw of the video, it looked fab, and it reminded me of "Alice In Wonderland" .....

Hey, I just heard this song too. Very cool indeed--I think I'll be getting the whole CD.
I also heard a sneak peek of some of Fantasia's new album. Some of it was kinda boring, but I'm betting the first single will be "Selfish"--it features Missy Elliott and it's pretty cool.

Glad to see Gwen has alot of fans here. I have a long history with Gwen and No Doubt. I grew up part time in Orange County and worked in a store that Gwen shopped at alot. The store sold beads and she would come in and sit on the floor and bead kneclaces. We used to let her and the guys put No Doubt flyers in the store for their shows. Whats really funny is Gwen and Her husband live not even a mile from me now. I ran into them at a neighborhood restaraunt a few years ago, I saw her but didnt say anything but then she saw ME and totally reconized me and came over and said hi,( my friends just about passed out when that happend). She a great girl, has worked her ass off and deserves all the sucess she has attained ! I still run into her every now and then , and she always has time to chat for a few minutes. I always tell she'll always be that girl that sat on the floor and beaded knecklaces for hours to me. She would make a GREAT Princess Projectra ! I cant wait for the new CD, love "What you waiting for", and the song "Harajuku Girl" from the CD is a total blast!

My little daughter is totally beautiful and she's a total tom-boy. She LOVES the Rock Steady cd and played it in her Hello Kitty cd player all the time. I'm glad that she likes Gwen so much because Gwen is beautiful and sexy, but she KICKS @$$ and takes no $H*T. Gwen seems to be kind of a "one of the guys" kind of girl. My daughter's like that. I don't think my daughter really knows the new song very well, and honestly, I'm not sure I like the idea of her singing along with the lyric that includes the term "ho." *I* don't mind it, though. I'm a big boy.
I think Gwen is AWESOME and I can't wait to get the new cd. I haven't seen it in the stores yet.

Oh, I figured she was still pals with the band-- they've all known each other since they were kids and stuff-- bless BEHIND THE MUSIC  But going solo can be scary, I'd imagine, so that's how I read it.
