Truthfully, I can't really seeing it make much difference to the way that we operate now... Even if we had indisputable proof that sentient alien life existed, the possibility of meaningful information exchange is so remote as to be nill... Get them showing up in flying saucers to hawk matter replicators or to convert us to the Church of Latter Day Zilnebs, and we might see some social change, but otherwise ...
